2023 Big Ten West QBs

As of 12/27/22 the lineup for the Hawks divisional foes at QB will look different:

PU- Texas transfer Hudson Card
Wis- mertz out- OK transfer Evers in....dual threat guy
Minny- Greek frosh came on late in year...bald guy finally graduated.
Neb- high hopes that Casey Thompson uses covid year.
NW- Sullivan probably the pick over Ryan Jingles
Illini- Devito trying for 7th year but BB is working the portal hard.

Iowa landed McNamara so the Hawks will join this parade of unknowns at QB in the BIG West.
Should make for an interesting 2023.

Casey Thompson is coming back but not having Trey Palmer to throw to will hurt. Need more playmakers at WR like Marcus Washington.

Minnesota QB was pretty good. McNamara a great grab by Iowa. Not sold on Hudson Card. Devito is ok.

Should be an interesting year but I think it will be another down year for the B1G West.

I wouldn’t count out Jeff Sims for Nebraska especially if Rhule wants a more mobile QB.

So the awful West division upgrade from bad quarterbacks to slightly below average. Though our D made average Thompson look like a Heisman winner. If the qbs ever get just decent in this league, KF is looking at 2-10. Hoping the opponents offense stinks isn’t a very reliable scheme.

How is McNamara in the unknowns? He started at Michigan when they win the B1G, and MAY have been the starter this year (after both got their shot), until he was injured....

Agree with you on Card with times I saw him play last 2 years. Not sure who Purdue has at WR next year but doubtful as good as talent he had at Tx. Funny enough he makes 2 former longhorn qbs in the West now. For both minny and ILL qb they were both in a run first offense and benefited greatly from elite RBs who are gone now. Will see how good they are without them.

Cade is not "unknown" but he is new to our division.
Maybe a bad choice of words.

It won't be the same. Have more air raid scheme, but walters wants a QB that can run a little if needed. Harrels offenses at USC and WVU were 55% pass, 45% run. They are not going to play Illinois/ Wisconsin ball and try to run it down your throat and then run some more.

Ya. People were concerned they wouldn't run a pass first offense, but they are. Should be good. I think there were some program issues so while Brohm did great things at Purdue, not sure the change was bad. Basketball is fun! Better than I expected they'd be. I was expecting a fringe top 25 team

Well you were wrong about your basketball team!!! I think that your offense may improve, was never a fan of airing it out so much. Probably get a quality rb squad now. Oh yeah, i forgot, most hated rival. Pox on you! Good luck next season except when we play of course.

Ya. It will be interesting. With the right portal pieces, the offense could be pretty good. The back 7 on the defense needs a ton of help.
