****2024-25 Chicago Bears Thread 💩****

I agree. With Moore, Odunze, Kmet, Swift, and if Allen comes back they are fine at the skill positions. NEED OLine desperately.

Edit: which means that Poles will likely draft a WR
Poles will trade down twice to get some extra 6th round picks, then use them to move up to grab another OT from an Ivy League school with a broken knee. He's convinced he's playing 4D level chess in the war room.

They won’t be getting Vrabel, excellent chance of him going to NE.

The new name is Anthony Weaver, but have a hard time justifying going with him.

That's way cool, and something to hang your hat on! I was impressed with that the Bears actually snatched victory from the jaws of defeat instead of the other way around.
@lucas80 - what does the OT situation look like for the draft? I've not been following it.
A lot of people I have seen think UT's Kelvin Banks will declare and be available for the Bears. After the usual run on QBs, having Hunter from Colorado being so tantalizing might help Banks slide down. LSU's Will Campbell is rated slightly higher, and I don't think he will be there. If Banks and Campbell are both gone then you have to think about sliding back a few picks for OSU's Josh Simmons.

It’s a super weak QB draft and that won’t help the Bears. I’ve seen Banks go as high as #3. On most boards, there are 4 tackles within the projected top 20 picks. The Bears will need at least 4 new lineman, so they will have to explore free agents and trades.

Most years the QB class is weak and teams talk themselves into drafting one too high out of desperation. We also don't know who might come into the draft, yet.
If Poles is around to build the next roster he must look at drafting, and utilizing that cap room he's built up. We agree on that. If it were me I'd use 2 early picks on the offensive line, and look to get one starter for sure via free agency. Then look lower down the draft for another starter and another lower tier free agent.

Agreed we need 3 linemen in FA (2 OL and 1 DL). That way if Campbell and Banks are both gone hopefully somebody gets dumb and offers a couple 2nd’s or even a 1st and 2nd to move down 4-8 spots

Like Iowa State winning the Pop Tart Bowl after the Miami QB pulled himself out of the game except the Bears don’t get a PopTart Toaster Trophy for their effort. “ Clean out your lockers boys, vacation starts today…”
Let us have one damn day, jackass.

I am never for intentionally losing and the players on the field clearly will not either; but this win did move them down a handful of spots. Nice to end on a W though and Caleb showing he doesn’t rattle easy with another fairly poor OLine performance

Well, they obviously were never going to get 4 rookie OL starters via the draft alone, so FA would have always been an area they were going to dive into.

Questions they have to answer is whether Jenkins/Borom have places on the roster next year; will be Bates be brought back after recovering from injury, and whether Braxton Jones is worth keeping around (2 year starter entering his 3rd year).

Trenches on both sides should be the main focus, as well as help at RB and depth at WR/TE.

There is a really good chance that Jenkins, Shelton, Borom, Pryor, Murray, Curran, and Kramer won’t be back, leaving Wright, Bates, Amegadjie and Jones as the only carry overs and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Bates get cut.

They will need a complete overhaul, that’s where a lot of the cap space will go. Oline and edge are crucial.

Word is that if Jenkins is back it will be a reduced contract, he’s just too unreliable.

Yep. Bears would have picked 7th.

Braxton is cheap…he’s not getting cut. His run block win percentage is shockingly really good.

Bates isn't coming back. They almost have to cut him and save the money. Wright is coming back, and Aegadjie is coming back. Jones is good enough to be a depth OT. Beyond that I'd maybe keep Pryor or Kramer as depth.

Highly doubt Banks or Campbell are available at 10. When the happiness of finally beating GB wears off everyone will realize it likely took the team out of contention for a top OL or DL prospect once again.

How about doing this properly and firing the GM for his incompetence, then hiring the new GM first and then letting the GM and not the owner's kid hire the coach?

I don’t want McCarthy but like they said on the radio today, he is the most successful candidate with head coaching experience that they are bringing in.

There is a press conference tomorrow at 10 with Poles, so it looks like he isn’t going anywhere.

Dallas denied an interview for McCarthy, so Pete Carroll takes his place.

And George McCaskey proved again that he is a terrible owner.
