****2024-25 Chicago Bears Thread đź’©****

As I mentioned later on, teams talk themselves into drafting QBs too high. They've been discussing PSU's Drew Allard going pro during the telecast of tonight's game between PSU and ND. More guys will declare, and 1-2 QBs will be impressive at the combine, and some desperate GM will overdraft. It happens every year
Carson Beck initially declared for the draft, but it’s being reported today that he is instead entering the transfer portal. His most likely destination is Miami. The UCL injury he suffered was probably going to hurt his draft stock so he apparently decided to play one more year of college ball. So that’s one less QB for a desperate GM to choose and drop a quality lineman down a spot for the Bears.

Just watching the Chargers and thinking what could have been for the Bears. Harbaugh turned them around from 5-12 to a playoff team. Meanwhile, the Bears are interviewing Drew Petzing, Anthony Weaver, grizzled experienced coaches Carroll and Rivera. Doesn’t sound good for the Bears with Ben Johnson, although he interviewed this morning. Glenn interviews this afternoon. I still think this is Brian Flores’s job to lose.

I have a hard time seeing the McCaskey’s looking past the lawsuit against the NFL that Flores is still pursuing.

George McCaskey is big into DEI, plus Poles and Warren both have backgrounds knowing/working with Flores. I think they could get past the lawsuit.

They better be smart enough (damn it) to expect a good explanation of how he's going to develop and support Caleb. The Tua thing looked like a disaster
I love his defense but he would have to convince the Bears he’s learned how to build a relationship with his QB. He was too much of a distant dictator in Miami. That doesn’t work with young people these days.

I do get the feeling Caleb is a guy who wants to be coached hard though but I agree.

If they end up clicking and having a good relationship, then that works for me. Just better hire someone at OC who isn't an idiot, which is pretty much always the case

Apparently he’s saying all the right things, that he continues to learn from Kevin O’Connell about coaching and relationship building with the quarterback and that he’s a different leader now. Who knows, Ron Rivera is interviewing today, maybe they go with a blast from the past.

I mentioned Marcus Freeman a few weeks ago. He seems to be gaining traction as a HC candidate. Or, someone wants that impression to be made.

Freeman would be an interesting candidate. Not sure he’s a great fit with the Bears. I’ve heard that those close to the program say he’s not going anywhere, but maybe that changes after the championship game. An intriguing candidate.

If the Bears hire Flores, they'll be drafting a new qb, and hiring new gm and head coach again in 3 years. He doesn't work well with others. Unfortunately this means Mccheesedick and Warren will probably hire him.

Meanwhile, while the clowns at halas are interviewing coaches from Iowa state, guys not even in football currently, and a couple senior citizens, the Pats got their guy in Vrabel. Hey, the bears had a zoom interview with him, they were in the conversation! Fricking idiots. It's not improving until there's a change in ownership.

The Bears think it looks good that they are casting a wide net, but in reality, it shows their incompetence. And the fact that they are doing another committee-type interview set up is ridiculous. They really have no clue what they’re doing.

Yep they should have asked Ben Johnson “how much” as the only question of the first interview

They should also ask him who will be on your staff. Do you know when to call a time out. Can you do media? How would you run a practice with a $10 million a year bum of a RG who shows up infrequently?
I’d prefer a HC who has been a HC.

Speaking of, on a day Bears fans are strutting around feeling good about themselves for once, Jags fans found out the owner's son apparently fired the GM in the middle of a coaching search.
WTF is going on down there?
