****2024-25 Chicago Bears Thread 💩****

I also saw that Ben Johnson's people are saying he's interested interviewing for the HC job. Of course he is, it drives up his interest.
When the final pink slips are handed out I wonder which jobs will be more interesting than the Bear's HC job? I think officially it's just the Jets and the Bears seeking coaches right now. I wouldn't want that mess in NYC unless someone explains to me how the Aaron Rodgers era is scripted to end. Then we have some perennial dumpster fire teams like the Raiders and Jaguars who will be looking for coaches, most likely. Would the Cowboys or Bengals be better options for Johnson if they come open? I assume the Saints are going to fire Allen, but that looks like a mess of a situation.
The Saints job is open, they fired Allen in early November.

I doubt it. They had a mutual parting of ways, which I assume is a polite way of not firing him and reaching a financial settlement. He was under contract for 2024 with an option for 2025.
You sure about that? I thought his contract was through the 2025 season and not an option year. My understanding is the Seahawks have basically continued paying him his $15 million salary to be an advisor. Maybe they would be happy to get him off their books if the Bears are willing to pay the $15 million for next season. But would the McCaskeys even be willing to pay that kind of money?

I have seen it listed in several articles as paid through 2024, with an option for 2025. Who knows? It doesn't say if it's a mutual, coach, or team option. I have to assume a team would insist upon holding the sole power on an option. If they agreed to part ways amicably as reported I can see them paying the 2024 salary and reaching a small settlement for 2025. The Seahawks have Microsoft money, so they can be generous.
Supposedly he was making $15 million per year, I doubt he'd get that at age 73, so, he makes perfect sense for the McCaskey's, a guy willing to work for less. NFL coaching salaries are speculative, right? The actual numbers never are released, right? It isn't like a coach at a state college where there is a public right to see the contracts.

Pete Carroll?
Bears might as well dig up George halas or hire Mike ditka again.
Geeesh!

Time for a modern offensive guru type...like Johnson.

Playing with some fire tonight!
LOL at D.K. Metcalf still talking s**t. You probably just killed a drive for your team. STFU.

Poles’ decision to keep Eberflus this season continues to haunt the franchise. Thomas Brown is overwhelmed and has shown to be no different than Eberflus. Poles’ inability to put together an NFL level oline is deserving of losing his job.
Nate Davis was a s**t signing. The word was out on him that he didn't like to play football, but Poles signed him up for a giant bag of cash. To make it worse he stuck with him.

Absolutely. When Davis is your highest paid lineman, that’s horrible. He traded a pick for Bates when the Bills were going to cut him. He drafted an injured player from an Ivy League team in the 3rd Round. Shelton spent more time on his back the first three weeks of the season than Stormy Daniels did in her career. Pathetic.

He traded up to grab an Ivy League lineman with a bum knee. He might have some talent, but he’s injured and played against inferior competition. Stupid, stupid pick.

Quad not knee. Still an awful pick. If the bears want to see Caleb reach his potential you cannot keep Poles around any longer. But they will.

Tory Taylor is currently #2 in number of punts at 76, #4 in inside the 20 and 15 th overall in average and a total ofat 3600+ yards.
Williams currently has about 3400 yards

Williams lost 5 of his last 6 games at USC and he’s a Lambeau beatdown away from closing out his rookie season with an 11-game losing streak.

I guess some guys just know how to finish strong.

I watch A LOT of football.

Two of the WORST end game debacles I've seen this year are from the Bears. Same QB, two different coaches.

Last night, last possession.

It's like 2 & 10 with 30 seconds left. You are NOT in FG range.

CLEARLY (to me) it's a kick a FG, go to OT situation.

All you need to do is pick up maybe 10 yards, probably not even that. You have 2nd down and 3rd down to get those yards.

WHAT DO THEY DO ON SECOND DOWN?

Throw a bomb. Incomplete.

WTF, how stupid is that?

Now you only have one chance to pick up those 10 yards.

Nope, another incompletion.

Now it's desperation time and throw the INT. That doesn't even make me made.

What makes me mad is the 2nd down call. I understand maybe try to get a big play and go for the win, but the passing game wasn't really working well, it was raining. To me, you have to get into FG range first and foremost.

Also, the OL had problems all night protecting and long balls just take too much time. Dump it out to Swift who was averaging 7 yards a catch or something. It's quick, it's safe, and easy to get out of bounds.

IDK, I'm not a coach, I'm not even a Bears fan.

If we get a decent head coach and improve the OL to average I'm confident Caleb will be great. I don't like his diva attitude, but he has a fantastic arm and is mobile enough.

Where are you guys seeing this diva stuff from Caleb? Every time the kid gets behind the mic it’s total professionalism and maturity. He hasn’t complained at all about this clusterf*ck of a season. He basically the one thing Bears fans can feel good about right now.

For starters, when he was at USC, he demanded ownership in whatever team were to draft him.

He was all about ME in college and I don’t see any changes.

He gets a lot of crap about his sideline demeaner. Throwing his head back, laying on the bench on his side when things aren't going well. Not saying it's warranted but that's where most of it comes from I think.
