****2025-26 Chicago Bears Thread 🏆****

I think Rivera met it…or do you have to interview 2 minority candidates?
I thought it had to be in person. They have zoomed the bulk of the interviews.
Flores coming into Halas Hall might be a few tea leaves to be pondered over.

Brown doesn’t qualify for the Rooney Rule, he was already on staff. They already fulfilled the Rooney Rule with Aaron Glenn and Ron Rivera. Flores will be by Zoom because he’s still under contract with Minnesota. Teams can start to interview candidates in-person on Monday if they are still under contract and not in the playoffs, so if they waited til Monday they could meet in-person.

I’m curious if Thomas Brown is on another staff next year; do the bears get compensatory draft picks in the future? I am not 100% familiar with how that rule works, especially given his in-season promotions, but know other teams have received picks on it.

And not to derail the Bears thread; but how smart is Baltimore by picking up Dionte Johnson off waivers. Yeah, he appears to be a cancer in the lockeroom and can’t actually play this year; but if some team is dumb enough to give him a sizable contract next year, they will receive compensation.

The guy to watch is Ian Cunningham...if he gets a GM position, the Bears get 2 thirds...pretty sure.

Ben Johnson seems to be everyone’s pick, but what makes you think he can assemble a staff and lead an entire staff / team? He’s rumored to want to keep calling plays, and few head coaches do that well while running everything else
I mean there is another head coach in the division that calls offensive plays and just won 14 games.

The Score reported today that Brian Flores is coming in Saturday for an interview, and this will fulfill the Rooney Rule. Let’s not discuss that, but why in TF didn’t they meet this requirement a week ago? Just ask Thomas Brown a few questions before he cleans out his office?
They already did an official interview with TB. Here's a good updated list.

No, I don’t believe the Bears would receive any compensation. My best guess is that Brown will be an offensive coordinator somewhere next year.

Yes, it’s a nice pick up for the playoffs, not often that a talented player like that is available at this point of the season.

He’s has had two interviews with the Titans, but several other candidates have had two interviews there as well. I think there’s a good chance he gets the Titans job. Yes, the Bears would get third round picks for two years if Cunningham is hired as a GM.

Per many reports and tweets, the Bears and one other NFL team contacted the Steelers about trading for Mike Tomlin, but were politely turned down.

Well Bears, if you want Johnson you can go get him now. If it's me I'm bringing him in Monday and making an offer by the end of the day to either him or Mccarthy. Pick the one you think can get the most out of Williams and lead the entire team.

That’s what a normal person would do. But you’re talking about the Bears. They still have 5+ interviews to do. Johnson will be in demand. The Raiders and Jaguars will go after him hard. And did you see that the Bears are interviewing Eddie George tomorrow. You can’t make this up.

I was wrong in an earlier post. Teams have to interview two minority candidates in person to satisfy the Rooney Rule. The Bears already did an in person interview with Rivera and Eddie George will be #2. Technically, the Bears could have a new coach tomorrow afternoon.

That threw me off, too. In person, and there were potential candidates still under contract the Bears could not interview until released by their teams.

I hate these stupid ass comparison posts. Until Caleb gets some competent coaching , it’s not fair to compare. And he doesn’t have a weapon in the ballpark of Mclaurin

Not diminishing Daniels, who is a stud. But it’s just not fair
Caleb’s numbers look pretty damn good for what he dealt with. Give me Johnson, Monken or McCarthy and watch him take off.

Would be such a homerun. Making a move universally approved by bears fans would be shocking. Those don't happen very often.

Keeping eberflus for an extra year may end up being worth it in the end if it happens!
The worst part is when we and Chicago media all get proven wrong in 2 years. I can see that happening…because Bears.

Not linking because I cannot find it, but they have been killing Trace Armstrong on The Score this week over personnel decisions and the Bears. Armstrong has been the agent for the last three OCs. He is the agent for Poles and Eberflus. Supposedly he promised to bring in a stable of good assistants to help put Eberflus who did not have the connections needed in the league. If you remember there were immediate issues with a couple of guys that were never quite explained, and the OCs have all been failures.
So, will the Bears step back from Armstrong who remains popular inside of Halas Hall and with the McCaskey family?

Armstrong and his agency might represent one, if that, of the candidates. They are clearly moving away from Trace. What I did find interesting is that Greg Olson said this week that he would love to oversee football operations for an NFL team. He knows his stuff.

If you can't beat 'em hire 'em...

I love it. I think the key will be to see who he brings with him, I’m hoping it’s the o-line coach, they’ll have to make him the o-coordinator. This is great news.

he likely will suck

but at least we cannot say that the Bears weren't trying to make the best hire
Does Penei Sewell come with him?? Hopefully they can get the Oline to average this offseason with the draft and FA. Da Bears are already good at the skill positions so they can focus on oline and defense.
