I know Trump says a lot of things, but this one is hard to phantom

Would the plan to be raise tariffs so much to cover the trillons lost?

Or just the tax the shit out of things we purchase instead?

hard to phantom?

Hard to fathom?

Is this a WOB?

Unless we make competing products domestically (which we mostly do not) tariffs are a tax on the shit we purchase.

Trump is a "grown up" version of the awkward middle school student government candidate who guarantees vending machines in every classroom and Taco Bell in the lunchroom. He's never going to actually do this stuff of course, just talks a lot hoping he gets a handjob someday from his MAGA friends who love that he's "trolling" his constituents.

I bet investments would be heavily taxed. It's gotta be made up somewhere

Real estate, luxury goods, VATs like in Europe (makes sales tax look like child's play).

I don’t think that it’s a bad thing to ask all of us to throw some money in the pot, so to speak.
I’d just seriously appreciate it if we could require the folks in charge of the pot to spend said money in that pot more wisely on our behalf.

Really? You think they are going to up taxes on investments?!? No chance. I imagine they will try floating a federal sales idea that will get the lower and middle class that number in the several hundreds of millions to shoulder much more of the tax burden. What could be more fair than that?

i don't know how you can look at the new administration and - with a straight face - think they'll be on board with increased taxes on investments

If they tax investment income the middle class would be in deeper doo doo than we already are.
Please tell me you have a 401/IRA and you understand that? If you don’t you (and half this phucking board of leftist nitwits and foreign trolls) are just flat ass dummies.

In general, 99% of all payments are pretty locked in. The stimulus and handouts I think should be stopped (including student debt). Mostly republicans say this, and then when you get down to the nitty gritty, they realize there isn't a lot to argue about.

There are so many people who are fully against giving the government any money . . . yet at the same time willing to take stimulus, child tax credit EIC ect. The mental hurdles needed to get from one stance to another is mind boggling. Other than individuals only want to take, not pay their fair share anymore.
What is the 'fair share'?
Per capita?
Would it be in proportion to one's earnings?
