For some reason I have thought Baylor as a school for smart people. Is it on par with the likes of Northwestern, Stanford, Duke, or Vanderbilt? Just curious.

It's #72 in the US News National Universities rankings.

NU is #12, Stanford #4, Duke #8, Vandy #15.

I imagine you were thinking of Rice, which is #18.

Oh, so Baylor's school ranking is about the same as their Strength of Schedule ranking this year.

They must be Top Five academically, hands down....

There is some pretty funny stuff in this thread.

Can't wait to tell some of my friends that they are fundamentals and rich. This will come as news to them.

Their Strength of Schedule will take care of itself over the next four weeks with TCU, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.

By the end of the season the SOS for Baylor will be tougher than for Iowa.

And they'll probably be 9-3/10-2 ,as they're without their QB.

Would not surprise me if that was the outcome even thou my Baylor friends are optimistic that their freshman QB will get the job done. Their SOS will improve greatly.

Outstanding track team. They just had one of their sprinters go pro.
I know very little of these things - what happens when a sprinter goes pro? They basically train for Olympics while running at events here and there and live off of sponsorships?

He'll run the pro circuit in Europe as well as being sponsored by New Balance.

As others have mentioned, Rice has the best academic reputation.

Baylor and Waco are a bit strange. Baylor is deeply rooted in its Baptist faith and you either fit in there or you don't.

I would send my kids to Rice, A&M, UT, or TCU before Baylor.

Texas Tech- Cowboy boots are required.
