Aiden Riggins

I get what you’re saying but that might not be what happened.

Also, probably some historical examples for consideration. I don’t think Jesuroga and Riggins were the first two to verbal the day of a big visit, although I can’t say who else. Anyone verbal day of Grapple on the Gridiron?

Jesuroga verbaled before the D & P show.

Reminds me of Ramos who was at a game but he told Tom that while he likes football, he came there to talk turkey and committed back in the office during the game. Also, Mark Perry completely fell for the D&P show. Didn't really know much about Iowa, came there during wrestle offs, saw the crowd at wrestles offs and was impressed. Figured he was in the right place where people loved wrestling like he did. Was ready to be a Hawk at the end of the weekend.

No. I don’t think that. But I also don’t believe for one minute that this type of decision should be made on impulse due to atmosphere of a big football game.

I’m guessing there is WAY more going on behind the scenes on a day like yesterday as far as recruiting details and commitments are concerned.

But that big day should be the icing on the cake….. and a hoot for the fans.
Well a good share if not all are coming because they really want to be Hawks, not like we don't have something to offer when it comes to Wrestling.

18 kids attended, 2 committed. So not like everyone just went bonkers all of a sudden. You have to assume for the heavily recruited kids they've done a lot of homework already.

I'm not concerned in the least WHEN they committed, but I never trust the process until I see them enrolled and at practice.

It’s not the game. It’s the atmosphere. It’s watching fans support their team. It’s watching 70,000 fans go crazy when the wrestling team is announced. Sure doesn’t hurt in recruiting
I agree certainly, but any Male that wrestles in America, especially if they're recruitable for DI, sure as hell knows about Iowa Wrestling crowds and atmosphere. But it also helps to attend meaningful Football games as part of the College experience too.

If wrestling had 18 recruits there then there were 100+ recruits in attendance just between football and wrestling. Not too mention MBB and WBB. Big time.

Not following what that has to do with my post you quoted that was clearly only about Wrestling recruiting, but Thanks????

They aren't saying the big game got them to commit, they're saying the big game and awesome atmosphere helped. How many places could you go and get a celebration like that with 70k people cheering on the wrestlers at half time? Not many.

Just like how the crowd didn't win the game for the Hawks, but forcing 8 false starts because the linemen couldn't hear their quarterback clap sure helped.

There's a million great reasons to go wrestle for powerhouse iowa and these kids have obviously done their research and realize them. The game was just icing on the cake.

I was at the game.... that wasn’t a dog and pony show..... that was a younger less talented Iowa team beating a bunch of more talented players because they were tougher and played harder.....pretty much the way Iowa wrestles
they saw a crowd of Iowa fans all on their feet cheering for the wrestling team and roaring after their coaches speech
What’s wrong if a kid was impressed enough by the fans and their love for the athletes that compete at Iowa to make their decision afterwards? The kid in question is from Iowa right? Probably has been exposed to Iowa sports his whole life..... what am I missing?
That’s what recruiting is all about
