Sorry if this is old news but I talked to a coach of his. Sounds like Nebbie is his #1 and there's a wide gap between the rest.

This kid is a must get imo, but do you think Brands Bros stop putting effort in to the kids they kinda know are heading elsewhere?

Careful...take cover because the gernades are coming. What you say coincides with basically what I've heard.

Thomsen would make a fine addition to the Iowa room but he's in no way a "must get." I put him on the same level as Max Thomsen from LaPorte who went to UNI.

Give it up, dude. He ain't coming to Iowa. And I know it's a FACT because I read it on these here message boards

MUST GET is a pretty big label. I don't see Thomsen as a must get but as of right now I do have him as the best Iowa P4P wrestler (any grade, any weight) but that may soon come to an end with the likes of Cullan Schriever and Cael Happel about enter the picture. Cullan may be a instate career 125 that can take over after Spencer Lee. Id say considering he idolizes Cory Clark and well Happel is a legacy that we are sitting good with the next 2 "must gets" instate kids.

But Must get is pretty serious label. I have Warner as a must get but I do not have Berge as must get because Nelson Brands would be free and at the same weight right? All i am saying is it would be nice to have Nelson keep improving and be an all American type starter then go spend the 9.9 on 9 other starters. ;)

I'm all for Berge if this staff sees a champ in him just pointing out a silver lining if I had to pick money between a few guys we want. Personally Id rank Warner, Murin ahead of Berge for team needs.

Cael Happel? If he legally changes his name to Dan or Tom I'm interested, otherwise not so much..................................:D

I know Cullan Schriever is supposed to be the next big stud, but excited can we really get over a kid who as an incoming freshman is wrestling at 88 pounds in fargo? Or will he need to repeat 8th grade this year? Yes I am sure he will grow over the next 4 (maybe 5 if he redshirts) years but shouldn't we wait till he gets at least state title in Iowa before we get too excited?

He will be attending Mason City as a freshman this coming season.

As far as how excited should we be about an 88-pound national title? Andrew Long won at 84 in 2005 (he wrestled Juniors the next year at 105 where he took 4th), in 2008 Cory Clark with 4th at 91. I get that's not a long list, but both Long and Clark in the same tier as Cullan, nationally relevant before their Fargo tournament.

Just trying to help put the national title in a little more perspective.

If tOSU learns he might have to repeat 8th grade they'll be all over him.

That's a nice list to be on when you look at the other 2 guys and where they ended up (wrestling only not personal choices-Long). Did Cullan cut much to get to 88 or is he naturally just small? Was Long going into his sophomore year in 2005 when he won it at 88lbs?

Cullan Schriever is the "real deal". Wrestles for Sebolt Wrestling Academy. Just look at his accomplishments, so far. Friends in the Mason City, Clear Lake area say that he studies videos every day of wrestling techniques and his matches. Favors free style over folk style because he likes wrestling on his feet. Looks like he could grow to maybe 133#.

Long redshirted at Iowa State during the 2008-2009 season (so he graduated HS in 2008) which by my quick count made him 84 pounds following his freshman season, heading into his SO year of HS (05 as a FR, 06 as a SO, 07 as a JR, 08 as a SR, 08-09 @ ISU). Clark graduated in 2012 I believe so he would have been a freshman as well I believe.

Long was small as a FR, but I think he wrestled 112 for his high school season, then cut to 105 for Fargo.

As for Cullan, I think he cuts a little to get to 88, but not a lot. He won AAU state at 90 pounds and wrestled some at 94 (weighed in a full pound under at Northern Plains) this summer. I couldn't tell you his exact weight, but I don' think he is more than 95 pounds.

The kid has a national title in 8th grade? Definitely someone to keep an eye on.

Growing up, I weighed 72 in 7th grade. 84 in 8th, 95 in 9th, 110 in 10th, 120 in 11th grade and graduated weighing in at about 132 lbs.

Not saying he isn't someone to keep an eye on, just wondering if he would be one of those guys who as a senior was still cutting a ton of weight to wrestle 106 or 113 and then going to college and need to spend 3 or 4 years lifting to get strong enough for 125.

Just cause he has a national title in 8th grade or even if he has multiple titles doesn't always mean a thing. Jack rollers kid won multiple Tulsa titles and never made much noise, Sebolt was one who many said was a must get when he came out high school because of all the things he won and he never panned out as a college wrestler.

Guess time will tell, hopefully he is as good as everyone says and ends up in black and gold in 4 years.

Sounds like he has a lot in common with Sebolt. I remember people saying similar things about him. He had a great HS career, but not so much in college.

Jack Roller's kid (Shane Roller) was a three time All American for Oklahoma State, so he made a little bit of noise.

There were a few reasons why he didn't. Was at NIACC in Mason City a few years ago and had a chance to talk to Sebolt. Sometimes you really don't know what you want in life. Sometimes you just have to say enough is enough and go on.

Maybe you need to know more about Sebolt before you start saying things like, not panning out.

Growth patterns vary in every kid. I wrestled 68 as a 6th grader, 105 in 7th. Then 120, 119, 138, 145, 167 (with a hard cut) as a senior. Played fb at 205 the next year. I don't think anyone would have predicted that pattern when I was in JH. Predicting weight at that age is a crapshoot, as is predicting development of skills. Life happens for a lot of kids.

The difference is that the OP at least stated his source. Who knows if it's accurate, but it's better than "there is no way he comes to Iowa, b/c I said so".

Burns out by his soph year, after high school moves to Alaska and because movie star in "Into the Wild". First show he pins a bear saving a little girl.

Can you elaborate?
I was just screwing around and have no actual knowledge. Others have said there is no way he comes here but now have backed off to saying they could be wrong. Things change and our coaches interest in him could go up or down and vice versa. A lot will depend on Murin and the Young Guns pipeline that is much more important due to the current status of Iowa high school wrestling.
