Seems that there are jobs out there for a man such as Fran. I hope that the security and community are enough to go with a modest raise to keep him here. He has been a true joy to watch and personally, I love his chair slamming, getting tossed, red faced attitude. He has shown the ability to get riled up but he has always had players that love playing for him. This season he has been calm to a surprising level. Plenty of straight line drives to the rim that make me crazy but he just tells the guys to keep on playing and you never see it happen twice in the same game.
Fran has been blasted for many things, but I have seen young teams play all over the country but not many become significantly better in their first season. Even the blue bloods with their 5 star recruits don't become significantly better. They are on the cusp of greatness and they get there but they don't make that big of a jump.
Iowa has made massive strides not only this season but also as a program. Fran brought a style and a toughness that have made Iowa an upper division finisher even in a massive rebuilding year. It's about time acknowledge him and his staff for a superb job this season.
