Angel Reese Appreciation Thread

One thing that continually amazes me in this ongoing and largely manufactured Clark/Reese rivalry is the still repeated myth that Caitlin started this whole hand waving business. Stephen A. trotted it out this morning!

It's usually said, ofc, as something of a justification for Reese's infamous taunting. But Holy Hell the HVL short clip dispelling its validity is widely available yet the myth continues. Undoubtedly, a certain faction simply wants it to be true, so it persists. Quite sad really.

Stephen A is an idiot

Oh, of course.

But the other two, the host and Andraya Carter, offered no pushback either - not that you would expect them to, lol.

ESPN has had over a year to get this right. In the case of the UConn foul it took 'em several days but at least they eventually got it right. Somehow though, this myth just keeps perpetuating itself.

You listen to Stephen A? Never understood why anyone would want to hear what that bag of wind has to say about anything.

I wasn't listening to Stephen A for any edification, but it is sometimes informative to know what these people with big platforms are saying.

I expect a stupid opinion from Stephen A, but he shouldn't be making factually incorrect statements, especially about Caitlin 😡.

"special whistle" ?
she doesn't think a foul should have been called?
These women are definitely reading off the same talking points. Who was that jackass with the gyrations a couple of games ago. She bumped Clark, Clark played through it and passed as the whistle blew. Be-hatch looked like an idiot with her little protest dance.

dan patrick, while being very smart and probably correct most of the time..... knows this is ratings gold for his show. quite frankly if CC22 never got on the court again the rest of her life, she might still be the biggest female star right now. I am certain she has eclipsed taylor swift. this thing has grown legs and taken off running, as far as the webz and social media goes.

I don't know bout bigger than Swift, but it is startling how famous she is and how much she is in the headlines. She is click gold for websites.

Why are Dallas and Chicago playing at 11:00am CT on a Thursday? Angel prolly say it's a conspiracy to cut down on attendance. Yesterday I could see, I guess, since it was a holiday.

Anyway, Reese and Cardoso putting up a line like you would expect so far. Combined 1-6 with 13 rebounds.

in college cardoso looked like she was 8 foot tall and could flat footed just stand there and dunk. she was crazy big and tall. in the pros, she just looks like another big out there on the floor and she looks very pedestrian. looks like she took a step backwards somehow.

Chicago defeated the shitty Dallas Wings in an early game today. Chicago was up by 17 at halftime. Reese had 16 points and 18 rebounds.

Been wondering, looked at play by play for today’s games. For those 16 points, 8 pts were off offensive rebounds, with 4 pts off 2 offensive rebounds after her own shot got blocked; 2 were FTs, and 6 pts off 3 shots (2 layups, 1 small hook). And again, of her 18 rebounds, 8 were offensive, 2 from her own shots. In other words, a good mix for today, at least (not just her own misses for rebounds). I don’t equate this to CC (more like the impact Megan had as post in her college days, which we all valued then as well/different player/position than CC). With all the talk, just took a look.

The best way to compare rebs to assists:
1 reb = 2pts * shooting percentage. (Adjusts for shooting, not counting turnovers.
1 assist = ~2.1 pts since each assist is either made 2 or 3 (discounts for missed shots, teammate fumbles before)

Angel needs about 3 rebounds to equal impact of 1 assist.

Angel wants to be present day Bill Laimbeer.
I was lucky enough to be in the Detroit area during the Pistons' run. Bill Laimbeer was very physical, but he wasn't close to being the dirtiest player on the team. That was either Ricky Mahorn or Isaiah Thomas. Pistons were an outstanding defensive team, and probably should have won four straight championships, not two. The year before their first championship, Boston stole it from them. The year after, the zebras handed it to the Lakers. Before he became a freak, Dennis Rodman was an incredible defensive player. Joe Dumars was one of the most underrated all-round guards in the league.

Angel might be a little cuter than Laimbeer.

You are absolutely correct about Mahon and Thomas but Laimbeer was the ultimate in s*** disturbing. It boggles my mind that Rodman became a Chicago Bull.Laimbeer certainly was lacking in the cuteness division.
