F Angel Reese. That is all I intend to say about her jealous ass.
Since the Fever are playing like crap, I check the box score of the Chicago Sky game and Angel only has 7 points with less than 30 seconds to go. I think to myself well maybe at least we won't have to keep hearing about her double double streak. Nope. A layup and then put at the line with 6 seconds to go to get free throws to get to 11 points. FFS.
Isn't that the second game in the streak where that happened?
I believe so. I didn't see either one of them, because why would I, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the foul calls in the closing seconds were weak AF.
Yep, weak call on a feed that shouldn't have happened at a time when you hold the ball and let the clock expire for the win. smh
Chicago is leading the Liberty late in the third quarter. Reese only has 6 points and 4 rebounds.
Well, the Liberty pulled away from the Sky, but Reese barely scraped out another double-double. She finished with 10 points (5-17 FG) and 10 rebounds. Of course, the announcer lady talked up "history" being made with 15 straight DDs despite the fact that Reese's game was kinda lousy.
Yeah, I looked at it about mid way through the 4th quarter and she had 6 rebounds. I had no doubt she'd get to 10 somehow. At this point, she could have zero rebounds with one minute left and you just know she's going to get to 10.
Honestly, Sky games with only a couple minutes left in the game is turning into must-watch TV to see how desperate they get for that double double
Is she intentionally missing all of these point blank shots just so she can get her own rebound/put back? Lol.
The phony dub-dub streak is over……3-13 shooting from mostly point-blank range did her in! 🤣🤣
Chicago was trying to get Reese the DD at the end. They got the ball to her, but she was swarmed by four Liberty players and had to chuck it back outside. At that point, she wanted it again, but Carter wisely decided to dribble it out. If you have to stat pad at the end of games to keep a streak going, the streak is garbage.
While I don't really care if Reese gets a DD or not, I'm glad the streak is over so we don't have to hear about it constantly. A DD can be very overrated. It's quite possible to have a lousy game and still get a DD. We just saw that a couple games ago and it nearly happened again today. The announcers/media make it sound like a DD is some kind of phenomenal feat.

It would be funny if CC approached, tied, or broke AR's DD record, she's currently at 5. Would love to see all her haters like McNutt, Swoopes, Staley, etc. pivot and find some other new reason AR deserves RoY.

Yeah I'm sure there's some advanced stat/metric out there that proves that AR shooting 31% from the field the last three games as a PF playing a few feet from the rim is actually a good and impressive thing.
Right now, the Fever are up on the Sky by a half game. If the Sky end up above Indiana, then they'll use the "Better record" to justify it maybe?
