Flo released video clips of separate interviews Bader did with the Ferrari bros.

Anthony was interviewed an hour prior to Angelo committing. He essentially said he committed to Okie St just to follow his brother and didn’t take any visits and advised Angelo to take his visits and do what’s right for him. He said Iowa is a family and now he’s part of that family. He mentioned rolling with Marinelli and stressed that one had better be ready to go when getting on the mat with the Bull. He said he wants to compete right away and doesn’t plan to use his redshirt while at Iowa, but has the option. He was asked by the coaches not to discuss where he is planning to go weight wise, but mentioned he could compete anywhere from 149-165. He ended the interview by saying his next competition could be in a dual vs Iowa St against Chittum.

Angelo was interviewed shortly after committing. He said Iowa felt like the right choice in his gut, as he thinks he can best achieve his goals being at Iowa. His modest goals are winning 4 NCAA individual and 4 team championships. He’s committed to knocking off PSU. He also mentioned being excited to roll with Marinelli (also Gabe Arnold). He said he plans to compete at Who’s Number 1 again. He stressed wanting to be a leader in the Iowa room.

I was pretty impressed with Anthonys interview. Seemed well spoken and polite. When talking about using a redshirt said he’s not planning to, but will do what helps the team.
Also like the chip on Angelos shoulder and wanting to take psu down. Those are the type of guys we need to be targeting

Gabe and the two younger Ferraris are great partners for each other, similar physical attributes, and none are intimidated PSU! If AJ enters the mix, Cass and keuter would be good partners since we have no 97’s that can touch him other that Warner, but that would mostly be from a defensive standpoint.

AJ hasn’t been enrolled in school for almost two years now. Besides the obvious legal problems, even if that works out for him, the ncaa progress towards a degree requirement is going to be difficult to achieve to get him eligible.

Thanks for posting this. Very... surprised...(?) by how well spoken and level headed Anthony came off. Cannot wait to get these guys in the room.

How can they hold that against you if you take time off from college? In that case, the morman wrestlers who take significant time off for their mission would not be allowed to wrestle,

Just what I was told. I’m not sure how the ncaa determines much of anything, but that’s my understanding of his situation.

There is an exception for Mormons in the NCAA rules.
I can see you have to be showing progress towards a degree while enrolled in school, and wrestling, to show you are a student athlete, not just an athlete . If you have to quit school, you are not a student athlete or student at that time, so that rule shouldn’t apply. Just trying to use logic.

This is why they have exceptions. I don’t know all of them but I’m positive being a POS isn’t on the list.

When did AJ stop going to school? Right after his accident in Jan 2022? Even if he did, that’s 18 months (three semesters) out of school.

If he’s serious about coming back, I don’t see how summer classes and a fall semester wouldn’t have him somewhat back on track to compete in January 2024. I’m obviously not sure on the details around his credit hours, but it doesn’t seem all that impossible to get straightened out. The legal stuff is obviously the biggest hurdle for AJ.

I would think this pursuing a degree while your a student athlete thing would stop WHEN YOUR NOT IN SCHOOL. If someone comes back to school and is a student athlete again, then they would have to show they are also taking and passing the classes to show they are not just an athlete. Why does this not make sense to anyone else?

Yeah I mean it’s almost like they don’t want to accommodate or encourage kids to quit school or something. And that more don’t have sympathy for poor AJ Ferrari. Totally odd.

BTW, what’s AJ been so busy with that he had to quit college all together?

I’m just trying to make sense of this for any athlete. If you drop out of school for any reason, and get your act together down the line, why would a school punish you for coming back, especially in this day of gap years being taken at any time, some just to travel the world. As far as AJ is concerned, he quit college to recover from injuries from an MVA . I would think he may have a good argument for a waiver. If he doesn’t win his trial in September, this back up plan to keep him out of Iowa will be a moot point.

I think you had x amount of seasons of eligibility in y amount of years at one time. 4 seasons in five so you could redshirt. Of course medical redshirts can apply adding another year. I’m not sure of COVID rules also.

There isn’t a gap year allowed, that would be a redshirt year. So certain folk will get 5,6, or 7. Seven is one COVID year and a redshirt. Taking a year off would be a redshirt so if you’ve redshirted once prior to COVID or took a year off after that year you’ll lose a redshirt or season .

He’s been posting videos of himself on social media working out hard for over a year now. And he has seemingly been all over the country during that time. So he can pump iron and bee bop all over the country but can’t possibly be troubled to at the very least take a few online classes? 😂

If he has eligibility issues he has only himself to blame in about 10 different ways.

I thought a redshirt only applies to those still in school taking classes. Is grey shirt same as redshirt but can’t be on scholarship? So if your an athlete who starts college, you can’t take a year off unless
This was a problem way before the Ferraris were going to Iowa. There’s no conspiracy to keep him out of Iowa.

It’s his own doing.
I’m referring to the fans who don’t want him here, not a conspiracy.

There is a gap year allowed. The eligibility clock doesn’t start until full time enrollment. Chittum just took one. So did Nathan Burak and Montell Marion. Once you enroll full time you have 5 years to wrestle 4. Olympic redshirts, medical hardships, military service, Mormon missions, and Covid years add to the 5 years. Note that Covid years are nearing their end. There’s also an age limitation that can be adjusted by the above exceptions, or by petition. Finally, one must make certain progress to a degree as Tiger noted. This often isn’t a factor with so many kids taking college courses in HS these days.

Still waiting for you to tell us how AJ could work out like a mad man and travel the country but wasn’t able to take a college class.

I don’t think any of us know if he has taken classes at a CC or not. If not, are you allowed to make up those credits before being allowed to compete as an athlete again?

Agreed. But that wasn’t what we were talking about. And yes one can get back on track if they are off.

And let’s face it…eligibility is not a high bar. Probably not that hard.

nAJ and Anthony credit situations should be cleared up come January.
I guess Anthony will not be wrestling chittum in the duel. Maybe for the best, being so close to the whole situation with chittum bailing because of Anthony coming. Last time I’m Ames it got ugly, and this match would only exacerbate it. This match may never happen unless it’s at NCAA’s, because I think there is a decent chance chittum will be in portal after this season.

Thanks , when I was thinking gap year it was after your 4 in 5 started. But thanks I wasn’t thinking of taking that year after your graduate, thanks for the clarification.

Not sure what is so difficult to understand about the entire situation? IOWA needs to get in the game and UP the ante and that is what they have done here. They got the #1 kid in the country and by everything you can see, the kid looks like a HR!

His 1 brother is also already here and appears to be working hard to make a statement! Guess we shall see how that part turns out as it may have cost us chit? I feel Chit not signing on in the year or so since he came was a bad signal all along. If he was not willing to battle for a spot or whatever other problems he may have had, good luck!

Now you move to AJ. We currently do not know what is going to happen? We also don't know if he will ever wrestle again in NCAAs, screw up again, or even get cleared of charges??? We do know he is one hell of a wrestler and IF somehow it was even possible to offer him a shot to get his life back on track and wrestle.

The HAWKS are in a good spot to offer him an opportunity if they see fit to do so? We also know we basically need a HAMMER at ALL 10 weights to beat the F*** st guys!

Coke Zero.
Tarp. Nobody, and I mean nobody, knows the importance of being innocent until proven guilty better than me, okay? It's a fundamental principle of justice. You're innocent until they prove you guilty. And let me tell you, Coke Zero, it's guilty of being unhealthy, it really is. But here's the thing, Tarp, until we have all the evidence, until we know for sure what those artificial sweeteners are doing to our bodies, we have to give it the benefit of the doubt. We have to presume innocence, just like we do in the legal system. But deep down, we all know it's guilty, it's guilty of being a bad choice for our health. It's got those artificial sweeteners that can mess with your metabolism, your gut, everything. It's guilty of giving you cravings for sweet foods like you wouldn't believe. And don't even get me started on the acid in it, it's guilty of damaging your teeth. So, Tarp, while we have to presume innocence until proven guilty, deep down, we know that Coke Zero is guilty of being unhealthy.

You know, Oldest & Greatest, you make a good point about trade-offs.

I get a beverage that tastes like Coke but saves me 2,000 calories a week, the trade-off being caffeine and unproven but possible cancerous effects if I were to drink 200 six-packs a day like a lab rat. I expect to die of something else.

The Ferraris are a similar tradeoff.

But in this case the Ferraris are not the potential cancer. We already have cancer: our inability to recruit well enough to score 100 points and win titles more than once a decade.

The Ferraris are the radiation.

Every rose has its thorn.

P.S. I thought their video interviews were great.

I'm glad you said they are the radiation not chemo.
That nasty poison kills you before the cancer does.
