Any HORT ballers with Atrial Fibrillation?

It can be effectively managed these days auth both medication and outpatient procedures. Nothing to be scared about. Now, go count your millions. While I can't give you medical advice, there are things you can do to improve heart health.

Zinc is helping alot with my IBS. Just FYI.

When did you last go to a doctor for a physical exam?

2014.

He wanted to put me on all sorts of prescription drugs that the hot prescription drugs marketer was pushing and I said, "Hell to the no on that."

My mother died with a whole grocery bags full of pills that the doctors and the pharmacy babes are pushing.

No thanks. I'll place my faith in God instead of "doctors" and hot pharmaceutical saleswomen....

OK but you may not live to 70...

You should go yearly at your age just to get bloodwork and labs done. I am sure your insurance covers the annual physical. You want to detect any illness early on. It seems foolish no to be going at your age.

If serious, this is probably the dumbest thing I have read here. Your mom needed drugs to prolong her life but died either because something else killed her or her condition was too poor to survive, so therefore you are saying no to modern medicine.

I had the ablation procedure on the 6th. Things have been mainly ok although I did slip into AFib again last Thursday. Apparently, for 2-3 months post-procedure, that can happen while everything heals. I'm over it though. That's five trips to the ER in the last two months, it's getting old. I have one last big-ticket item to check off the list and that is sleep apnea. I was diagnosed right before our first child was born and never did anything about it.

Hope you’re feeling okay and have a full recovery.
I think I have sleep apnea too because I’ve been told I snore which I didn’t use to do - (but I don’t hear a thing ha ha)
I’m reluctant to do that sleep test because I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep and I could never be able to wear one of those CPAP machines - ugh.

My gf (no pic) is a nurse. Trad is one of those guys that doesn't go to a doctor for 30 years, then is totally caught off guard when he ends up in the ER and there are 30 different things wrong with him. RIP in pieces, Trad.

I really don't believe that. You said your wife went through some health issues (delayed your trip to Hawaii). Did you guys pray to God for her recovery or actually go to doctors and get it taken care of? We know its the latter. It's really sad that you actually had someone really close to you need those doctors while you're here pedaling your same typical BS. I wouldn't wish death on anyone, but when you make statements like the above I kind of wish you would have FA and FO. Be thankful you live with the medical care that is available to you. That Hawaii trip may have never happened. F'ing lying POS

Have you asked about inspire? There is a relationship between sleep apnea and afib.

I did two sleep studies before I was diagnosed. Let's just say that I was not very enthusiastic about the CPAP machine. Nothing says "let's have sexy time" quite like a CPAP machine. That said, if that is what it will take to keep me out of AFib, I am signing the fook up. :)

Damn.... I'm in my 60s, I smoke like a chimney, eat fatty foods, drink too much, don't exercise, and I've never had to deal with any of this shit.

If you value your life at all you should clearly make a life change.

Otherwise you probably aren't going to have a very long life.

Hell, you could die tomorrow.

With inspire, you don't need a cpap machine.

I was interested until I looked at their website and saw that you have to have a device implanted near your collarbone. No, thanks.
There are wires yes but most don't notice after 30 min. Much better with an outpatient procedure than a cardiac arrest.

I presume that you have decent health insurance with your company, a low deductible plan of some sort.

You should set out each year on a mission to spend (squander, if I dare say it) a maximum amount of your insurance money for the year.

Get the Prostrate checked, do lung scans, get any and all ultrasounds, EKG's, Echo's and blood tests, that you can finagle from your new cardiologist and all of your other doctors. You will need in addition to your new Cardiologist, an Endocrinologist, a Nephrologist, a Urologist, probably an Orthopedic person and since you loll about on your boat constantly, certainly a Dermatologist ... There are hearing loss people, breathing guys, Sleep Apnea guys and the list goes on and on. If you are sitting in a bar and the bartender brings up something you are not addressing, make a call when you wake up the next day.

They do become hesitant in paying for the Colonoscopy and Endoscopy at some point although there are workarounds, but that stuff is becoming urgent if you have never had them.

There are even guys (and pretty ladies who will give you shots for pain. I just had an injection in my left foot a couple of hours ago and am planning on a little jog later today ... for the first time in awhile.

Half of this board (May I suggest that it is the older and wiser half ... I have always placed you in this grouping.) are out there fighting the ageing process.

Remember, if you have insurance, this stuff is mostly paid for by someone else. This is America and getting others to pay is what all red-blooded Americans strive for.

I had a procedure done yesterday on my back to remove a lipoma that just appeared and got big really fast. It was growing next to my left shoulder blade and if I hadn’t sought treatment my back was going start to resemble the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Being the admittedly vain thing I am that wasn’t acceptable.
Every person at the Surgeon’s office including my surgeon and every single person at the surgical center was over the top professional and friendly…and competent.
I’m not in pain but I am incredibly sore today. Ugh.

I don't think he said that it was a money issue. He's basically saying he doesn't have any faith in modern healthcare who are unnecessary and are only there to earn a profit. He's done his own research and come to the conclusion that God decides these things so he's going to pump as much fat and toxins into his body as he likes.

Good points all. I do presume he is not stranded in a high-deductible Obamacare like plan. He has a good job in a related field. (He may even have been trolling since he is an HR guy and should be familiar with healthcare insurance, but that is allowed around here.)

My main point was that since the U.S. has the most expensive healthcare system in the
World, largely subsidized by the government/taxpayers one should take maximum advantage. In America, one can drink, smoke, do weed, get fat, miss sleep, and lead a generally slovenly lifestyle (even cussing and skipping church!), and still have access to decent, often prepaid healthcare

Interesting with regards to smoking. The US has done a decent job of reducing the number of smokers as compared to some Asian countries and a few European countries as well.
Boomers have cut way back on the number of smokers after seeing many of their own parents suffer the consequences of tobacco use that swelled during the war and postwar years. Lots of people smoked in my own age group and those of us who didn’t were exposed to second hand smoke for decades. I have no friends from HS or college who still smoke.
My parents stopped smoking in the early 60’s when the Surgeon General’s initial report was released and I remember to this day my Dad watching actor Gary Cooper’s PSA commercial about his terminal lung cancer due to smoking. He quit cold.

Party on Trad. While you can.

I don't remember the Gary Cooper commercial, but I do remember John Wayne who ended up dying of lung cancer. He never even mentioned smoking in any of his spots for the National Cancer Society in the 70's.
