been ready..or at least I think so, for about a month....Hopefully there are no bugs in the system.

Seems like a complexity nightmare and a disaster waiting to happen. We'll see.

Looks to me like hardly anyone is ready. I asked about it at HyVee yesterday and the kid seemed baffled. They have the readers with the slots in the bottom but they don't work yet.

Walmart on the other hand has been using them for about a year and a half. Seems to work fine.

We're pretty well set, but that's because there's been a committee working on it for 2 years. There will certainly be bugs in the system, such as coding for upcoming procedures. There's an "order replacer utility" that's supposed to automatically update the codes of procedures already in the system, but I'm sure not all will be a seamless transition. Also, there will likely be some bugs in the diagnoses from ICD-9 that are now inactive without a replacement diagnosis.

I do think there will be some benefit in the long run since the number of unique diagnosis and procedure codes will expand greatly, and with much greater specificity. I'm sure it's going to be a nightmare for the coders though for a few months.
