Are we sure Marinelli is better than Young?
Had up until Young went out. I think they waited to see who Rider sent out. They both stood there with Tom til he told Young to go out.
Everyone realizes who Young lost to - Iowa needs to have guys that are top 2/3 or better. Iowa can't piss away 125 / 133 for zero ncaa points and expect a guy at 165 to get 5 NCAA points and all is good.
Obviously we need to find a top 10 recruit to man the 165 spot...
Weird that you complain about 165, where our better wrestler didn't go. But nothing for 141 who lost to an unranked guy?

Is the point here that our back up was good enough to almost beat the #4 wrestler or that our #1 is not much better and the result would have been the same whether we threw out Young or Marinelli?

Get real, our backup Freshman 165 lost to #4 ranked Senior by 1.
Problem with that is you risk some chance of giving up a pin ala Rohn. If you want to try to shoot low risk low leg shots to catch tf At end, fine. But, don't go crazy and risk a stupid mistake when you already have 4 locked up.
With Young, a little experience and he should be getting out at end of first instead of being rode out. That happens and it goes to OT. Should be that much better by end of year if he is still the guy.

All due respect, that's just dumb. Young loses a close one to a 2X AA senior in his fourth "real" match and first tough one and its curtains eh? What does a guy like Young look like by the end of the season?
Look at this way, we’ve been complaining about guys in the last few years not going for the major in these types of duals...now we are bitching about not getting TFs. Progress.
