Didn't see one started . . .

I've closed the door in my office and am catching up on administrative matters this morning. Streaming the Illinois/Maryland game on my iPad.

Maryland up 1-0 after 4 innings. Illinois just left bases loaded in B4.

EDIT: Illinois is the #3 seed/Maryland is the #6 seed. Winner of this game faces winner of #2 Michigan/#7 Ohio State. Loser of this game faces loser of Michigan/Ohio State game.

Maryland breaks it open in T8. They've plated 4 and have a couple of long balls. Runner on first and still only one out. 5-1 Turtles.

Maryland with a convincing win: 6-2. Hunter Parsons shut down the Illini - big time. The #6 seed advances in the winners' bracket. Let's hope that this sets the tone for a day full of upsets by the lower seeded teams . . .

Maryland is hot and Illinois has been pedestrian in conference all year. They really padded their RPI in non con to their credit.

Where did Maryland hit HR's? Part of field? Decent wind looks to be blowing out to right-center/center field. TDA is a big park so that wind will help..maybe 'Meat Patty' can launch a few!

Both HRs were to left center.

In B6 (Michigan batting), no outs and the #2 Wolverines are up 1-0 over the #7 Buckeyes.

EDIT: Sorry . . . missed earlier post.

Two hits this entire game, wow! Is there replay in college baseball, swore I saw a "call reversal" in the game tracker on that steal in the B6?

To B9 . . . #2 Michigan is now down 2-1. Michigan has #8, #9 and #1 in its batting order due up.

In Omaha? Where else would you have it that would draw decent crowds?
Just looked at the tourney history on wiki, nothing wrong with Omaha at least you have two fam bases covered with Iowa and Nebraska.
Past games in Ann Arbor, Minneapolis, Bloomington... Its not like its in Lincoln.

It was a great game. 2 to 3 thousand Hawks gave it a home feel. Even the Husker fans were mostly for Iowa

My first time seeing Minnesota’s Fredrickson throw this year. Woof, what a stark difference from his freshman year. He pumped it up to 96mph in the first and dropped to 88-91mph from then on. It seemed like each breaking ball was bounced 59’. I hope it’s all between the ears because he’s a great talent.

is it a good idea to have it there? there's hardly anyone there!
Do some research. There’s a good reason why it’s scheduled to take place there 5 years in a row. It’s by far and away the best place to have it. It’s the home of the CWS for god sakes. Omaha has been tops in attendance by far when comparing to other locations. Big 10 just doesn’t care enough about baseball but Omaha has a built in advantage with it being a warm up for the CWS.

Of course attendance is best when both Iowa and Nebraska are in the tournament and make it deep into the week.

The highest attended Big 10 tournament NOT in Omaha was 12,219 in 2009.

Tournaments in Omaha...

2014 - 62,044
2016 - 33,728
2018 - 12,404

Nebraska didn’t make the tournament in 2018 and Iowa made a quick 0-2 exit but it still had more attendance than the previous record set in 2009.

Also, in 2014 for the championship matchup between top seeded Indiana and second seeded Nebraska, the stands were packed with 19,965 fans, an NCAA record for a baseball conference tournament. It broke the previous record -- between Florida State and North Carolina -- by more than 2,000 fans.

the stands were empty, so you could have it anywhere i guess.

Chicago?

Indianapolis?
Im guessing they would have the same results as Minneapolis. When the tournament was held at Target Field in Minneapolis in 2015, attendance was awful. Total attendance for the tournament was 7,384, with 658 in the stands for the final game.

Chicago don’t give a shit about college baseball. Nobody is traveling to see college baseball in the Big Ten.

Iowa vs. Nebraska tonight, I can see at least 5k there tonight although 9 p.m. start and potential weather could be interesting..

Kyle already pointed out that even Omaha's worst attendance year was better than the best attendance anywhere else. Omaha is college baseball. Add Iowa and Nebraska and the formula really works. It just makes sense.

Unless Creighton is hosting the Big East baseball tournament, there is zero competition for the B1G to get access to TD Ameritrade.

Not going to make it due to the late start. Made it last night to support the Hawks, but Im guessing we'll be far outnumbered tonight.
5:00 start would have been perfect for these two fanbases.
