Before you read what follows, note that KF and other B1G programs have stated they would need 60 days to get ready for a regular season.

Look, Italy had 1 soccer game attended by 40,000 people in the stadium and corona exploded in the country just from that 1 event. So there is 0 chance of a college football season in 2020. people will not be allowed to gather in large numbers like that.

What are you talking about? According to the Italian government, and WHO, the explosion in cases in Italy was caused by the unfettered travel between Italy and Wuhan China which is where many of those who work in northern Italy's industrial area come from.
While the virus is definitely real, at least try to not add to the panic with rumor.

It is shocking the lack of understanding some people have. Yes, the virus was seeded by workers and travellers coming from Wuhan. It was mass gatherings of Italians like this and in Spain that helped spread the pandemic.

exactly.

They have their head in the sand. Somehow if you get 70,000 together in the US it won't magically spread like it did when 40,000 got together in Italy.

This is correct. It was not from the soccer game. Note, it was perfectly fine and reasonable to postpone the Italian Soccer league, but the corona virus did not explode in Italy from one soccer game.

please read the articles. It is clearly a big factor.

And we are going to take massive risks at a time that would literally be 6 months or so from a vaccine. Not gonna happen.

No. I talk like the players want to play and want to be safe too. Not so hard to grasp. I bet they want to play. ;)

Well no kidding, of course they want to play. Just like coaches want to coach and us fans want to get fanatic. But at some point a higher authority has to step in and shut it down nationwide for all collegiate levels. That’s what most people here are predicting will happen, including yours truly.

You may have missed my earlier connected point.
Medically analyze the players prior to and leading up to the game. Very small amount of cost in comparison for such a big pay-off.
Compete and take proper safeguards. It can be done easily.

People willing to put other people's lives at risk simply so they can watch football. I shouldn't be surprised by the stupidity of people anymore, but JFC....what's wrong with you?
Who said it was about the fans? If I am a football player for Iowa, I would want to be medically evaluated/cleared so that I could play and not waste a year. It isn't just about the fans, Einstein.

Please enlighten us how easy playing a P5 football season is? You can start by answering some questions just off the top of my head...

1) Where do the players stay?
2) Where do they eat?
3) Where do the coaches stay?
4) Where do they eat?
5) Where does the support staff (managers/trainers/etc) stay?
6) Where do they eat?
7) Where do the people supporting 1-6 stay/eat?
8) How do you transport the team/coaches/support staff to/from games?
9) Where do they stay/eat while on the road?
10) What about officials/announcers/camera crews/medical personnel/etc on gameday?

OK. But then what would you say about the "leader" of a country of 330 million who ignored warnings about all of this for at least six weeks? Then his initial response was politically motivated, saying it was a "hoax" perpetrated by the opposing political party. Then he said it was just another "flu" and was no big deal. Then he said it was "totally under control" and "nothing to worry about," so even if you're sick, "go to work."

Then that same chap held daily "briefings" during which he consistently offered false information based on his "hunches" rather than scientific facts from medical experts with decades of experience dealing with these exact issues. And then he stopped allowing the experts to even share the podium because he was tired of having his dangerous, clueless hunches corrected.

Then that same entity said this would all blow over, and in the meantime it was more important to get the economy going again than to worry about a few hundred thousand Americans dying. After all, "Thousands of people die from the flu every year." And earlier this week, while saying he wasn't responsible for the failed response to this disease and that it wasn't his job to see that doctors, nurses, first responders and hospitals have enough masks, ventilators, and tests, he found the time to brag about what great TV ratings his briefings have.

There's more, much more, but the one person who has placed every American in mortal danger from COVID-19, the one person with blood on his hands, lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. If you want to go after people who are "willing to put other people's lives at risk," might as well start at the top. IMHO, of course.

I'm thinking 80 men - 40 from each side.

Not to belabor the point, but assume you’re thinking rosters would be trimmed down? If so that introduces even more player risk due to lack of backups, special teamers, etc.

Players, coaches, trainers/medical, officials, and camera/production gets you pretty close to 250.

Camera production is a non issue. No need for close proximity.

Officials would be about 8 with minimal contact.
Coaches about 8 with minimal contact.
That gives me 112. Keep it closely monitored with the included medical personel. Not the simpliest thing to do; but, keeps the dreams of these young men alive to play ball and to do so safely.

That's a nice rant, but not quite sure why it was aimed at me. I don't disagree with you.

what did the WHO and China have to say about this at the same time?

A. Testing is not (and never will be) 100% accurate. There will be both false positives and false negatives.

B. There is always a window of time after a person is infected when the virus is undetectable.

C. One undetected case would be all that's necessary to infect an entire team.

D. Football players, being football players, will not isolate themselves completely. They will still get together and drink with friends and screw jersey chasers.

There is no way...repeat, NO WAY to have football and make sure it is 100% safe for players, coaches, and other personnel. Thus there is no need to put lives at risk for what is essentially trivial entertainment.

Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont. Could you have them run with no fans present? Same with Indy 500.

and knowing that 6 months after season would start we will have a vaccine, so they are not going to risk things when in 6 months we all get the shot and we are good to go. That first game will be a giant party in 2021.

On January 14, WHO (World Health Organization) tweeted the virus was not being transmitted from human to human. If the tweet is not still out there I have a photo of it. China was stating the same as they were covering it up. January 31 Trump issues travel ban from China. Your statements are false! Biden called that racist! Later Trump banned travel from Europe. Media says whoa not necessary.
