Baylor recruits want out...

I see where several members of Baylor's most recent, and highly ranked, recruiting class want out of their signed letters of intent. Assuming that their release requests are successful, what options do they have for enrolling at a different school by next fall? Aren't most programs at their scholarship limits following spring practice? Normally these types of threads are more of a "Who can Iowa try and get now" nature, but in this case I honestly don't know how the process will work and what options are available for these kids who want to continue their athletic careers somewhere other than Baylor. Do they have to sit out a year and be re-recruited?

Honestly there is a very good chance that they could land somewhere. Most schools probably will have another couple players drop off during the summer and will have a scholly to play with in the fall. And they should be released from the LOI's. Just another reason why Baylor as an institution is a POS.

Teams will find a roster spot to make room for the top recruits. Probably the same for mid-tier recruits.

This is the perfect example of why you don't sign a national letter of intent. If more kids started the trend of just signing a financial aid agreement it would change the whole system. I would bet money the NCAA issues something that says Baylor recruits can be released from their LOI's.

Baylor would be crazy to force that many recruits into their program that don't wanna be there. It would ruin team chemistry. Baylor's football program did a lot wrong, they should let these kids out of their LOI's.

I think you are correct and I would not be surprised if some of the Baylor recruits choose that path.
Yes it would be essentially a RS year. Kind of like what the Van Ginkle kid did by transferring from USD to IWCC to get a P5 offer.

You mean athletes should band together to force changes in an unfair labor market? I endorse this.

If Baylor has even a shred of integrity left (doubtful) they'll comply to the requests.

What the NCAA should do is release them and not hold the scholarship against the team they choose for 1 year. That gives them all options to consider and the following year the teams they choose have one less scholly to offer.

Sounds like they want the players to meet with the new coach before granting a release.

That seems fair to me, but then the corollary is after that meeting, if anybody still wants out they should grant it.

I am guessing most of the kids want out because they liked the coach and not because they have a moral problem with what happened at Baylor though.

Isn't it kind of amazing how Iowa fans can have conversations about multiple teams. Like here we are talking about Baylor and we don't have 20 Baylor fans over hear saying how obsessed we are with their program. Probably because Baylor fans aren't up all night trolling every message board to see if anyone may be talking about them.

I have added nothing to the discussion but just making an observation.

This is national news, we are allowed to talk about it.

Guessing if we were a Texas school there would be some Baylor fans calling us obsessed. The fact that it's a national story would keep some quiet but not all.
