Thats a standard international mat...it has more give, so to accommodate throws... you would have seen that at the Olympics, World Champs, etc. The US typically uses Folkstyle mats and converts them to the international ring.... These are the same mats at the Olympic Training CenterJust watched his first match. Tech fall in about 2 min.
But I have a question: what in the heck is that surface are they wrestling on?

They were out in LA blowing 3 games lateCurious why Cubs wasn’t in attendance. They tend to be the main competition for the US at Pan Ams.

To avoid defections?cuba very rarely sends wrestlers to age level events
LMAO. I had to re-read this multiple times as I’m a bit dumber than usual in the morning. I was at one of those games this weekend btw. The Cubbies had as many wins this weekend as Cuba. That 2016 NLCS loss still stings……They were out in LA blowing 3 games late
more of a cost thing, but this might factor in too. if you do see a cuban at an age level worlds, you know he's going to be legit. they only send guys who are ready to win titles. last one i can think of is their 57 kg who won u23 worlds a couple times recently, but even he didn't compete in juniors.
I was curious so I looked up the Pan Ams from 2019. Cuba sent like 3 guys, very strange. Iowa connection? One of them beat Real Woods for Gold and one of the others was Clone Yonger Bastida.cuba very rarely sends wrestlers to age level events
Probably because they don't know or don't want to have to prove how old any of them are. That can be an issue for age level tournaments. 😏
haha that never stops the russiansProbably because they don't know or don't want to have to prove how old any of them are. That can be an issue for age level tournaments. 😏
(they've had some age concerns with some Major League Cuban Baseball players I believe)
Well, they know how old they are. Lol. It’s not like the concept of numbers was just recently brought to Cuba.Probably because they don't know or don't want to have to prove how old any of them are. That can be an issue for age level tournaments. 😏

So tell me you don't know anything about it without telling me you don't know anything about it. LOL!Well, they know how old they are. Lol. It’s not like the concept of numbers was just recently brought to Cuba.
Risk of defection would make more sense, maybe. Senior athletes may have families to consider. Younger kids may see opportunities in defecting with less downside:
Lol what’s baseball? So tell me you don't know anything about it without telling me you don't know anything about it. LOL!
If you can spell Baseball and Cuba you might become enlightened. Good luck.
