*****Bennett Stirtz & Isaia Howard will follow Ben McCollum to Iowa City. Who else will be? 8 of 15 Roster spots filled*****

He will go to texas.
I mean if Ben coached him, he must of liked him that he set up a visit on the day the dead period ends. Ya theirs big names out their.

Got to trust Ben to get him to buy in. Sturtz will be apart of the visit. We've got a shot! If he's only looking for money then no.

To be honest, some of u will take this the wrong way, but we shouldn't even have a shot.

Get him a Carver Cone to seal the deal

That wouldn’t surprise me at all.

That said, it’s worth noting that he is visiting other schools. Iowa visit upcoming, and he apparently already visited Vanderbilt.

Most of the guys who just follow a coach (like all the Drake kids headed to Iowa) don’t take any visits, often entering the portal with a no-contact tag.

So the fact that Lewis is actively and publicly shopping around gives me some hope.

Hopefully Ben can come up with a 4 year "payment/compensation plan" to make it work for Nyk. Listening to Ben speak, he's a very good salesman, imo.

Nyk could have full ownership of the PG keys in a year; that has to be a great selling point. The fact that Ben developed Bennett into one of the top PGs in the country has to be another big selling point.

Thanks for posting regular updates in these threads. I don't post much, but I hop on regularly to check for updates, the vast majority of which are posted by you. I have resisted all urges to create an account with a Benisdaman username in solidarity.

You are very welcome. ;) Fran pulled the program out of the ditch after the 3 year Lick era; hopefully Ben can take us back to a Sweet 16.

I find it interesting that coaches with more experience call Ben for advice on Xs and Os. What worries me, however, is that we can only buy so good of a roster, where we might get to a Sweet 16, but that's as far as we can get because we can't afford the horses to match up with the best bought teams in the country.

When looking at the current roster, there's a maximum of 15 roster spots and 6 spots currently remain open.

Based on reliable media reports and other announcements, this is where the 15 man roster currently stands:

Current 7 man 2025-2026 Scholarship Roster:
Bennett Stirtz...............6'4" guard, 1 year left
Isaia Howard..................6'5" guard, 3 years left
Kael Combs....................6'4" guard, 2 years left
Carter Kingsbury..........6'4" guard, 1 year left
Tavion Banks..................6'7" G/F, 1 year left

Cam Manyawu..............6'9" forward, 2 years left
Cooper Koch.................6'8" forward, 4 years left

2 Walk ons:
Trey Buchanan...............6'1" guard, 3 years left
Jacob Koch......................6'1" guard, 3 years left

The official Iowa basketball roster now has Banks listed as a “G/F,” rather than “guard.” (Actually I think he’s pretty much a forward, as I understand it, but “G/F” seems more accurate than “guard.”)

FYI.

Is this more legit than the Iowa burner network??

Another guy predicts the same thing.

Jacob Ognacevic is a 6'8 forward who played for Lipscomb last season. In 35 games played, he averaged 33.7 minutes, 20.0 pts, 8 rebs, 1.4 assists, .40 blocks and .30 steals.

He shot 58% overall from the field, 40% from three, and 80% from the FT line.

Seems like we are competing with Indiana often for the same recruits. I don't follow IU but they are clearly looking for the same guys we are. Are they doing the same kind of roster overhaul that we are??
They will be in desperation mode as I looked at their message board and their roster was at 2!

Honor Huff is a 5'10" guard; he played for Chattanooga last season. He was First Team All SoCon.

Last season, in 38 games, he averaged 36.5 minutes, 15.2 pts, 2.3 assts, 1.8 rebs and .90 steals.

He shot 42.4% overall, 41.6% from 3 and 82% from the FT line.

Per 24/7, he has heard from these schools since entering the transfer portal: St John’s, West Virginia, North Carolina, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Alabama, Iowa (Zoom), Florida State, (Zoom), Memphis, Xavier, Miami, Missouri, Seton Hall, Colorado, SMU, Ole Miss, Penn State, Maryland, VCU, South Carolina, Utah State, USF and Loyola Chicago.

Thank you. ;)

Hopefully I have the years left correct (the free covid year should be over by now but who knows that the rules are any more)

I have Carter listed with 4 years left because Fran said they applied for a medical hardship (or whatever it's called)

You mean Cooper right?
I think Carter only has one year left.

yeah, my bad. Carter has 1 year left; Cooper should have 4.

I have head some say Carter's scholarship was just for last season; have you seen anything to that regard?
I have heard the same. But I think the 15-man roster limit is the more important thing to watch than the scholarship distribution.

What’s funny is he played Center 98% of the time this season. Not sure why he keeps getting listed as a guard. Hopefully we find another true big so he doesn’t have to play out of position again all year.
