So I'm sitting here watching the 30 for 30 on the Pete Caroll-era Trojans, and it strikes how similar I feel today as I did after the 2003 Orange Bowl. Good Iowa teams smoked in bowl games against great opponents. Unlike MSU, who I felt was fool's gold all along, I think Stanford is probably the 3rd or 4th best team in the country (depending on where you would rank them compared to OSU and Oklahoma).

These are, IMO, the best teams that Iowa has played in the KF era.

1999 Nebraska (12-1, lost by 4 points at Texas. AP #1 team when we played them, KF's first ever game as HC).
2000 Nebraska (10-2, lost by 1 at K-State and to national champ OU in a 1v2 game, played for the NC the next season)
2002 USC (won national title the next 2 seasons, beginning of the Pete Caroll dynasty)
2005 Ohio State (finished 10-2, lost to #2 Texas and by 7 at 13-1 Penn State)
2006 Ohio State (12-0 regular season, lost BCS title game)
2006 Michigan (11-0 and ranked #2 before losing to OSU and the Rose Bowl to USC)
2008 Penn State (would have played for the NC if we didn't beat them; lost by 1 point to us and USC in the Rose Bowl)
2009 Ohio State (11-2, won the Rose Bowl, last at USC by 3 and a shocking upset at Purdue)
2010 Ohio State (12-1, lost to a great Wisconsin team)
2010 Wisconsin (probably Bielema's best team, beat us in a 31-30 heartbreaker)
2013 MSU (13-1, lost by 4 at Notre Dame, only team in B1G history (I think) to win 9 conference games by double digits)
2013 OSU (12-2, lost to MSU and the Orange Bowl 40-35 to Clemson)
2015 MSU (12-2, lost by 1 in controversial fashion at Nebraska, smoked in Playoff semi-final)
2015 Stanford (12-2, lost by 2 to Oregon, and baffling opening day loss to 10-3 Northwestern)

How would you stack these teams up against each other?

I think 2002 USC, 2006 Ohio State, and 2013 MSU are a cut above the rest.

The next group would be some order of 2010 Wisco, this year's Stanford, '06 Michigan, '08 PSU, and take your pick of any of the OSU teams.

USC would be my pick for the best team Iowa played. 2002 might have been the best team Iowa has ever fielded and USC thumped them

Way wrong on both posts.
Thinking game vs USC was tied at half and we screwed up a first and goal at the two at the end.
The Nebby teams had a lot of wins in the pillow fight old Bib 8. They were average.
A couple of the OSU and Mich teams were loaded with NFL talent. Some still playing. This years MSU team probably has 6-7 NFL 5 year plus guys.

Was not the Big 8 then.

1999 we were Big 12 Champs and revenged our loss to Texas in the CCG.
Beat defending National Champs Tennessee in the Fiesta bowl.

We were good enough to beat Florida St but VTech went unbeaten and played them instead.

That team struggled to beat us with Aj Blasek at center for Iowa. First time I saw him I thought he was a team manager.

Going from memory but think it was 7-0 at ahlf.
Yes I know their is two halfs. Basic math some from Nebby doesn't know. Where the read option is on the field and off.

Best teams Iowa has played, not Nebraska moron.

I am assuming we must be talking about best teams Iowa played since Fry and Ferentz Were coaching because I believe Iowa beat Notre Dame Back in their glory pre face mask days. Other than that I would probably say USC in 2002. Stanford was not that much better other than the fact they were ready to play and Iowa was still thinking about Disneyland. I think either of these games been played directly after the season Ended we would have seen a different outcome. Probably still lost to USC and Stanford But I think both would have been a game. The time off hurt.

This is such a dumb argument but I'll bite cause I am bored..

Neb 42 Iowa 7
First Downs: Neb 24 Iowa 8
Total Yards: Neb 523 Iowa 169

Uhmmmm but yea, Nebraska struggled
