BF contract amended

Only President Wilson can save us now…

Barta has lost check. Kirk does whatever he wants to anymore. Brian’s performance objectives do not define offensive success.

It is odd that they have a number of games that need to be won as one of the measurables since wins and losses is basically the main measurable for the head coach.

I would rather have the 25 pts a game as a measurable, some metric on the overall ranking of the offense, and maybe some measures for increased rushing and passing metrics.

The whole thing is odd. For working in education, Gary Barta just proved how ignorant he is. This is beyond laughable. It could be harmful to the players and the program. He has no balls.

What was that stat they threw out there our record is when we hit 25 points?
Kirk said since and including 2015 the hawks have a record of 55-3 when they score 24 points. His answer was to a question about just this last year's poor offensive output which of course he didnt answer and used perfect political double talk and deflection to ignor.

Others on these forums have pointed out that the hawks had a definite losing record in games where they scored less than 24 points in that same time period.

And of course just this last season the hawks scored a woeful avg of 17.8 pts a game and that is with the defense scoring a number of TDs etc.

2 out of first 3 games are vs Utah State and Western Michigan. Iowa is going to score 70 points on those 2 teams. Then big ten play, we will go back to around 15 points a game. Somehow end the year at 25.1 points a game
Western Michigan had a top 40 defense last year. Their offense was about as bad as Iowa’s though.

True…you would think someone, anyone on campus would tell him how to write a goal. Profs and staff have to meet goals, and yet this clown has no idea how to put a goal together. Shame on the university.

Killing drives in our own 25??
it’s a lot more than that. milking clock to keep the D fresh (that’s why coop and moss have that extra step for pick sixes) for starters. next, giving the punter opportunity to really kick the ball without worries that it may be become a touchback (that’s why opposing drives start near their ez letting safeties and pick sixes happen without our dbs getting caught from behind). there’s a lot more but i’ll end this by noting that all this doesn’t just happen without planning and extended practice.

This simply shouldn’t be allowed. It’s an embarrassment not only to the University of Iowa, but now Iowa, specifically on the offensive side of the ball, can continue to be college football’s laughingstock.

Gee, I wonder if this helps or hurts recruiting. At least when Hayden left the cupboard bare it was for a legitimate reason. Kirk is going to burn down everything he built, all the good will, just to keep his idiot son employed. ****.

You do have it correctly as the laughingstock because I can see it now, as the season progresses there will be 25 point meter on Iowa on the talking head shows, the TV game day analysts will be pointing it out, and as the season winds down a lot of eyes will or might be on it.

Remember a lot of those November games can be low scoring due to the weather, etc.

that’s a great prediction. hopefully every game will have that points required meter depending on how the O has performed up to that point. could make iowa football very entertaining to watch considering nobody else would have that meter. recruiting uptick possibility as a result:)

Someone has to start a thread with the 25 point meter!

Whaaaaat? Offense? Heavy lifting? That is laughable as well as so obviously wrong. Now if you'd said Tory Taylor I'd be with you.
i explained some of the details in a more recent post. i don’t believe you can refute those points…

This is just another GB/KF thing turning Iowa into a national laughingstock. Already been mocked by The Athletic and SI.

"This is the at-home equivalent of your wife telling you that all you have to do is take out the trash and put the toilet seat back down to meet your weekly goals," joked Athletic football reporter Ari Wasserman.
Hahaha. Yep. We might as well own it now!

This is like the tball coach inserting his kid all the time even though the kid sucks.

Embarrassing at all levels.

Brian will never be head coach at a decent school

I’m not going to read this whole thread, because honestly I’m not going to defend the guy and I want to publicly be on record that I am tired as hell of Brian Ferentz.

I’m not mad as hell, I’m not gonna quit watching Iowa. I think Kirk Ferentz has done a lot of great things but I am tired of hearing Brian Ferentz name. I don’t even think he’s necessarily a bad coach or even a bad play caller but under his watch, the offense has digressed immensely, and I for one am tired of it and that’s all I’m gonna say on the matter !!!

It ultimately HAS to be somebody’s fault so either that’s Kirk or Brian, and in reality both and helL maybe even more Kirk but he’s had his shot!

Does it stipulate that the 25 ppg average is what's expected to come from the OFFENSE and that he doesn't get to count scoring by the D and ST towards that average?
Was about to post the same thing...thankfully I scrolled through the thread beforehand.

Seems like that part should be explicitly defined in the contract.

I really don't see the offense averaging 25 points next year ...they team as a whole, maybe.

According to this article it's for the team as a whole including defense and special teams, so in effect Brian gets rewarded for things he had nothing to do with.

Might make Friday, Nov 24, 2023 vs. Nebraska a very interesting game.

Say Iowa has 6 wins and needs to score 39 points to get our OC to the goal of 25 points per game average.

Score with 4 minutes to go is 35-10 Iowa. Does our coaching staff go to no-huddle, hurry up offense to score another TD to meet the contract goals? Or instead of FG on 4th down, go for the TD to get to the 25 point average?

Could make for some weird scenarios and story lines.
And nothing is stopping from having Brian sign a new contract June 29th 2024 either.

Lol. Who ever said KF was going to give us two middle fingers, had it right. The problem i have with is that KF and GB think we are all so stupid. I am truly amazed

Which already happens at pretty much every Kirk presser.
