Big Ten Tournament Seeding.

So apparently if Iowa wins @ Mich (yeah right) the hawks get the #5 seed.

If there are any upsets then Iowa might move up or down. But WOW what a fall this team has had. They could of had the double bye and a clean road into the Semi's. But not so much this year.

Here is my question, lets just say Iowa gets the 5 seed and gets upset first round. Do they get any higher than a 8 seed in the NCAA? I do not see it.

Actually for BTT (coupled with a Hawkeye victory in Ann Arbor, of course) if Wisconsin loses at both Minnesota and Purdue then we will be the 3 or 4 seed, depending on outcome of Indiana-Maryland game. If Wisconsin only loses to Purdue we can still get the 4 seed if Maryland beats IU.

There may be other possibilities, but I'm assuming MSU will not lose and Illini will not upset Maryland.

Bizarre to me that if the record between multiple tied teams results in two teams still being tied that it doesn't revert to head to head, but rather goes to record against other highest ranked teams. This could allow Purdue to win tiebreaker over us because they beat OSU, even through we swept them.

Taking my post above one step further... rpiforecast.com says Minnesota has 25% chance of beating Wisconsin, Maryland has 31% chance of beating Indiana, Purdue has 81% chance of beating Wisconsin, and we have 49% chance of beating Michigan. Therefore we have a 19% chance of getting a double bye, including a 7% chance at the 3-seed.

On a more depressing note, if we lose Saturday with my other above assumptions about MSU and Illinois we're guaranteed the 6-seed if Wisconsin beats Purdue and the 7-seed if Purdue beats Wisconsin. So we have a 10% chance at the 6-seed and 41% for the 7-seed. In summary of my posts:

3 seed: 7%
4 seed: 12%
5 seed: 30%
6 seed: 10%
7 seed: 41%

To me this is like the old western movie when the bad guy calls the marshal out. You know it is inevitable that to put an ! on the end of the season, we will end playing MSU and they will blow our doors off for the 1000th time in the BTT. I am sure Izzo has an Iowa jersey on the wall in the locker room with his quote 'They punked us'.
