Big Ten wins

We lost arguably the best (college) player in Iowa history. We lost another starter early to the NBA. We lost the guy who would have been our starting center to transfer. We lost a 4th starter to transfer (although that was probably a blessing in disguise).

Look, I'd love it if we never had down years, but given the circumstances I wouldn't be totally disappointed with 8 wins in conference play. The OP is delusional though if he thinks we won't win more than 3.
I don't think any rational fan would disagree about realistic expectations for this year. You don't lose the conference/national player of year and another guy who went to the NBA, plus the transfers you mentioned, and not expect a downturn. Now, roster management is also the responsibility of the coach, so the coach is not absolved totally of those. Nunge's circumstance is unusual. His father died, he and I believe a sister who was playing volleyball in Florida both transferred to schools closer to their home in Indiana.

I always thought the upside for this year's team was getting some breaks in close games and getting on the NCAA bubble and/or sneaking in. Seems to be about where Iowa is at. I think some fans' reaction to this year's team is that with having the greatness of Garza over the last 3 years and the overall excellent play from Wieskamp, what Iowa got was never making it out of the first weekend of the NCAA tournament, finishing 6th, 5th and 3rd in the conference, and not making it further than the semifinals of the BTT. The team won quite a few games, but nothing that people will remember those teams forever for. It's somewhat harsh, but basketball is largely by what happens in March, with regular season Big 10 title, BTT title or winning 2 or more games in the NCAA tournament.

Few things need to change - Conner should never have the ball in his hands under 6 seconds on the shot clock, boxing out needs improvement, Patrick needs to quit trying long, running bank lay-ups, Keegan needs to get his touch back and quit missing bunnies, JBO needs consistency, Joe T needs to settle down, and Tony P needs more playing time.

Pretty easy list to fix.
