Bo Bassett COMMITS to IOWA. Who's next?

These huge "NIL" deals are great for the kids, obviously; not sure how great they are for the sports, however. This kind of stuff used to give a program the death penalty. ;)

The 1.3 for MG is also just something some local news outlet reported and didn’t have any real info. I’m guessing like a lot of NFL contracts there are bonuses added and could be up to 1.3 million though for hitting win totals, bowl games, big ten title game, and making playoffs. And even if it isn’t and it’s just 1.3 million straight up for one year with revenue sharing and then getting most likely 14 of the 20 mil of it in football plus collective money paying you’re starting qb 1-2 million a year of potentially 20+ million is going to be very standard for P4 schools.

And no. I'm not, and have never "tried to hurt the Iowa program."

Have I been on the Fire Brands wagon for a long time? Have I thought that Brands being at the helm has led to some pretty stupid things that made us look bad? Yes to both. I like talking wrestling. Period. Good and Bad. And i have my opinions.

But I've also been very positive about Brands, about the program, pretty much since they "let go" of AJ and Anthony. They're making changes, they're doing great things. I didn't like the grabbing guys not in the portal - but once I learned it wasn't a rule - I let that go. Hell, I cheered when Big Bob got us Buchanan and Teemer.

I like trolling. It's hilarious to me. This is a message board, so I don't always understand why people take so much so serious - none of what I post on this site has ever changed the life of anyone who reads this board or doesn't.

And I will probably always have sources in different places. Fingers crossed, I'll have one in Happy Valley soon. But I'm a Hawk fan first and foremost. Always have been, always will be.

Technically there aren't (or weren't) supposed to be any performance related language in the contract. it seemed like a pretty arbitrary line, but then it was something other than 'NIL'. Even though a players n,I,&L all become more valuable the better he performs.

That may allhave changed (or just been ignored).

Chase isn't my guy @AtownPoke is. But that's wild. I'm never in favor of banning unless it reaches untenable levels. That interaction didn't seem out of bounds.
 
I wouldn't begrudge them if they are, but does anyone know if FRL compensates the athletes for the exclusivity? Maybe its a symbiotic enough relationship it makes sense for both parties

NIL, RTC, promised blow and hoes, it honestly doesn’t matter. 100% of our current model to bring in recruits will be determined by the success. Do you remember when jimbo fisher brought in the greatest recruiting class of all time? Of course you don’t. He didn’t win.

And that’s all that matters now. Bo Bassett is Iowa’s and he needs/will produce. TNT followed the rules, and won. And I don’t view negatively or have said that’s it’s negative - that we outbid other teams.

He's obviously very soft. His feelings got hurt. The new guys who think they're insiders down there are clueless. Brodie is ok although he believes anything he's told. Nothing against young people but they've not been around long enough to understand the game.

Actually, that's not true.

Scott Dochterman is now a national college football reporter for the Athletic & New York Times. He's well connected. Scott was of many who reported that $1.3M figure for Mark Gronowski.

And, unfortunately, $1.3M was the market rate.

This has been talked about ad naseum...

The numbers for Iowa get out. It's not me making them up. And i tend to wait to hear it from multiple sources before i say/post anything. Sometimes i get sent screenshots. It just seems like the Iowa coaches care less about it getting out than other schools (CERTAINLY PSU)

AND more people are just more likely to talk about Iowa wrestling and what its doing. Iowa is the biggest brand in wrestling. Full stop.

Now. I don't mind talking about things I've heard, but if someone specifically asks - I won't post about it.

Carter and AB both got a mil for winning their 4th title. Carter will get 1.3 for winning 5

DT reduced the NIL amount for Fish, Amine, Hamiti and Hendrickson. Pretty sure Hamiti and Hendrickson were both close to $250k for the year before DT reduced it.

I don't hear much about ISU numbers. They absolutely pay, but they're not crazy numbers.

Blaze got offered $600k by Tom Ryan.

You are accusing PSU and Oklahoma State of violating the NIL policy.

It's pretty much a free for all right now, but these break 2 of the few rules that actually are in place.

Cannot have NIL tied specifically to performance and coaches cannot be directly involved with the contracts.

Yes...miles ahead in terms of getting high school recruits. Bo and Jax were need weights but that's assuming guys like Blaze don't grow and stay at 33. Bo would have been in line to take over for Van Ness but Van Ness likely has an inj shirt coming his way so he still has 2 seasons.
