Bo Bassett COMMITS to IOWA. Who's next?

Exactly. David Taylors late push last night was to tell Jax that Bo is getting 5 million so he better get the same or choose osu. And vhs seems close to the cowboys.

I'm pretty certain that if @west2east knows where Jax is heading, he's not going to tell us. He's not one to try and steal a kid's moment.
I definitely won't be saying a word about any kids moment. Most here are adults regardless if you're behind a screen name and no one knows who you're or not have some respect. If you've children think of it as being your son/daughter who's announcing. And I know most just make guesses so they can act connected but some have good intel and probably shouldn't say anything. And this isn't a post about Jax it's about all recruiting announcements

hey tough guy. Chill.

This is a message board. I’ll display my thoughts, feelings, knowledge, but not pics of my wife as I damn well please.

You don’t know what I know. So any favor I do will by my own choice.

NIL, RTC, promised blow and hoes, it honestly doesn’t matter. 100% of our current model to bring in recruits will be determined by the success. Do you remember when jimbo fisher brought in the greatest recruiting class of all time? Of course you don’t. He didn’t win.

And that’s all that matters now. Bo Bassett is Iowa’s and he needs/will produce. TNT followed the rules, and won. And I don’t view negatively or have said that’s it’s negative - that we outbid other teams.

GOOD.
Hey silly — think about what spreading false NIL bags does to the rest of the team like Caliendo, Ayala and Ferrari. If you don’t KNOW then you should not pretend like you do because you’re just stirring the pot. Get it ???

Hey girl!!

That would be on TNT to mitigate. They are fully in control of the team and their athletes. If it’s not true - then why would it matter?

This is a message board. We all have the choice to post what we want. And I very seriously doubt the things I say on here distract the athletes.

Reminds me of the reported numbers for Buchanan and Teemer. Everyone “in the know” was so certain, and they were wrong. Didn’t ever see one of them retract what they said.

What does Bo know. VHS knows more. In fact VHS was the one that told me about Jax’s eleventy billion dollar deal.

Oops, I gave up my source.
The Clown VHS also said he wrestled for Iowa. Opps, it's a message board... Being a lying POS douche canoe is apparently what we should all be/do.

The only way you would KNOW that Iowa offered more than anyone else was if you KNEW what everyone else offered, to include Iowa. You already admitted that you don’t KNOW what Iowa offered and it was just a thought. Do us a favor a keep your “thoughts” to yourself because you’re adding to our rivals’ bullshit game.
I wish I could like this post 100x

If he is getting 5 mil why does anyone on here care? Did you want him or not? His market value is dictated by what someone is willing to pay for him. Did anyone on here give thousands of dollars or more to wrestling that wouldn’t be happy that it went to Bo? The whole making the room unhappy with rumors on pay or who’s getting paid what will figure themselves out. It’s an NIL world in all sports and the teams that pay the most are going to win the most it’s that simple.

And while I don't believe it, if it were true, why is that some mark of shame? When tOSU and Georgia and Bama pay gobs of money for elite portal guys and recruits in football, that doesn't seem to be a problem. Everyone seems to be in awe and it's all 'good for them'. And if people WERE banging on it, it's just because they support a school that can't afford that level of recruiting, and they would 100% be on board if all of a sudden their school could afford it.

First and foremost congrats. Bo will be a great Hawk and it will have benefits to the program in multiple facets.

it's a great fit. there aren't too many naturally 'Iowa Style' prospects in high school anymore but Bo was/is the quintessential one.

as far as my previous comments - yes i was wrong. i didn't think, especially early on, that Iowa would ultimately land him.

however i did make it clear on several occasions that that was just a gut feeling and not any 'intel'.

it's not the first and certainly won't be the last college prediction i don't get correct.
This wasn’t a snap decision, apparently. “It’s always been the hawks since the beginning.” How could you, of all people, get that one wrong?

Good question. For whatever reason, the wrestling media is always bagging on Iowa for doing what other top wrestling programs, and athletic programs all over the country, are all doing

idk how many times i posted on here that i didn't have a great read on it.

Bo and his camp were among the most active in recruiting and negotiations i've ever seen in wrestling. very communicative w/ numerous coaches. constant conversations. it led to several programs truly believing there was a chance.

i didn't think iowa would ultimately land him. they did. you got him. be happy.

I’m tickled. And was just messing with you a bit, bruh. That was supposed to be good natured ribbing. Btw, your answer above gives good perspective on his recruiting process, imo. Thanks.

Yeah, but the cherry on top is you being completely wrong.

Somehow, Iowa wrestling and Ohio State football are the two most lucrative per capita college entities in this country.

People do realize that is essentially what is being suggested, correct?…I think some numbers are being made up.

Snope. And i'm being as honest as I can be. I THINK its 5 mil. but i think there's some "mathery" in there.

I KNOW Iowa offered more than everyone else. So not trying to argue over this. There's no need. Iowa won. Did what it took - and guess what? even if Iowa offered some crazy number - Tom and Terry had to win Bo and Dad over. Period. Like I said from the beginning of this process, TNT really went out of their comfort zone to show the love to Bo. THEY won this battle.
$5 mil for the basset trifecta package? or $5 mil for Bo

It was a Penn State fan facebook page that came up with the $5 Million #, it was snapshot and sent around the internets. I got it sent in texts at least twice from random people I know. So this is the equation: Put out the # and the prediction to Iowa (because that's what the tea leaves were saying last week thru the weekend). If wrong, laugh and say welp looks like he went somewhere else for far less $$. Iowa can't even get a guy for 2X the amount other schools offer. This has been the pattern and narrative.

Every Single Time When Iowa is in on a big name recruit or transfer this is the narrative. Somehow, the $ is never exposed for literally any other school. All the haters wanna believe so it gets gobbled up without hesitation. Oh well. Haters gonna hate.

AlL IOwa dOeS IS buy TraNFers:

Okie st b(r)ought in 4 transfers this year. PSU b(r)ought in Nagao, Truax, Messenbrink, Dean, and would have had Evan Wick had Carl been able to get him past admissions. Even then the chatter was Iowa outbid PSU on Truax. But PSU doesn’t “operate that way” ……..save it.

Edit- Evan Wick not Shane Griffith.

On a side note, these "NIL" numbers are crazy (to fans, at least) in every sport.

I would not be surprised if the #1 wrestler in the country is getting $1M/year in "NIL." As we know, there are several Iowa wrestling boosters with a lot of money who want this program back on top (just look at the names on/in the wrestling building, for starters).

Iowa boosters are paying the new Iowa QB $1.3M for his ONE YEAR of services and Iowa football won't be winning any championships like Bo hopefully will.

These huge "NIL" deals are great for the kids, obviously; not sure how great they are for the sports, however. This kind of stuff used to give a program the death penalty. ;)

The funny thing is the wrestling world doesn't understand by saying Iowa is paying X amount isn't hurting Iowa. It's actually helping because athletes who are looking to portal will always look at Iowa as an option.
