In hindsight, it really appears we've had Bo for years. Spencer Lee locked it up. Iowa was always his favorite team, even before Spencer.

You gotta love Jody Strittmatter — he has a lot to do with us landing Kemerer, Spencer, and now Bassett. If we get Jax Forrest we should find a way to support him any way we can!
Bo’s brother shared that same thought.

It could happen, people thought Bo was a lock to OSU.
That is a very optimistic timeline. It is a sign of good things to come, but PSU is fricking loaded and they are adding the #1 and #2 recruits from the 2025 class. If they can get a majority out of the Raneys, Moccos and Jax and keep the momentum going, I could see them finally being competitive in 2027, but they may not be full ready to knock them off til 2028. It is a VERY steep climb to get to where PSU is right now.
Kudos to Brands to making a big step in that direction!
After watching the Bishop McCort dual and the subsequent commitment, you could see Keegan Bassett, Owen McMullen and Melvin Miller all wearing Hawkey gear.

A pretty good sized gut, which made me believe Bo wasn’t going to Iowa.
Not sure where people were getting information but Iowa was always at the top of the list. Jax will announce his choice on Thursday. I don't do social media but have been told he only has stuff from 2 visits up and they were Oklahoma st & Iowa.

it's a great fit. there aren't too many naturally 'Iowa Style' prospects in high school anymore but Bo was/is the quintessential one.
as far as my previous comments - yes i was wrong. i didn't think, especially early on, that Iowa would ultimately land him.
however i did make it clear on several occasions that that was just a gut feeling and not any 'intel'.
it's not the first and certainly won't be the last college prediction i don't get correct.

Tempers running high, and the Internet is stupid, but we all love this sport. Watching the Zagreb? I meant to go to sleep hours ago, but I'm off work for a few days and said eff it, stay up for the wrestling. Will pay for it tomorrow, but got a lot of chores done while waiting.

Same as willie, i'll admit when i'm wrong. and i was SUPER wrong about this. Just based on the intel I had, I didn't think Iowa had a chance. That it was okiest or PSU, and we'd finish a far 3rd.
But kudos to Brands - he pulled it out and got the best prospect since Steveson. Hope we can make it a clean sweep and get Jax, Raney x2 and Mocco. THAT recruiting class allows us to compete with PSU for titles.

i think iowa has a great shot. they're certainly in the final short list/final 3. and that's not something i thought was the case in november. so they're trending in the right direction. per Jax's father, they were surprised at how well they clicked w/ Tom on their visit.
Reporters that write for the PSU rivals site are saying the $5M NIL rumor is in fact true and was the game changer. I understand many won’t believe that. But one of the reporters, when questioned, double-downed and said he confirmed it.

I mean, they write articles for Rivals, are at pressers asking questions and do podcasts. But I get you and I would be just as skeptical in your shoes.
Mineo doubles down on wrong as well. Soon you will start to hear the ‘we think he has peaked in HS’ ‘we think we have other choices we like better’ ‘doesn’t really fit style wise’

Because this is what psu does with every single Iowa recruit. The people they’re talking to want this out there. Their sources aren’t as accurate/truthful as they think they are. All part of the PR machine. Bo directly denied the rumors, so I find it hard to believe that his “camp” is confirming with psu JoBlow.
Iowa needs to pay athletes a lot more millions to catch up with what PSU was paying them before it was legal.

Iowa gets one big recruit, and they go out of their way to push the narrative that his decision is only about money, and he won’t be that successful at the next level. No, I think he was pretty straight forward. Things did swing Iowa’s way recently. You also see that with Forrest. Willie came back on here and said he was wrong and that the hawks are back in the mix for jax a few weeks back.
I think the McCourt clan had a great visit, really liked Brands, and then got a boatload of money. Made it pretty easy for Bo to remember his childhood fandom and zero in on Iowa. Great job by Tom and co.
They run the same playbook every time we are in deep on a recruit or transfer. Make up numbers and then spin it as "Iowa can only buy guys" or "man they suck if that much money wasn't even enough" depending on if we get the guy or not.

This is true. Parents are starting to see through the negative recruiting. Some key parents are/were turned off by it.
God damnit - another one of these kids that can't score in the second or third period?? Maybe this one will be a 3 time hodge winner instead of 'just' a 2 timer
