I posted this earlier. Bob is 61. By way of comparison, Nick Saban turns 70 tomorrow.
If he wants to come out of retirement, do it. Any of the Stoops boys would probably do well.
I think if Kirk retired, he would really consider it.
Give him 5 million per to think on it and Long can be his OC again.
Would probably be like the frost warning. Everyone would have such high hopes that they'd almost certainly be disappointed.

Bob should have been here in the first place....and he would have ballz enough to talk about a National Championship as being a goal at Iowa.....something that KF has not uttered even ONE time.....even back when he was one of the Top 5 highest paid HC's in the game did he NEVER bring those two words up as a goal.

I really hope KF is no longer coach after this year, and I would love for Bob Stoops to come here. Somewhere in an alternate timeline Bowlsby hired Stoops, and Iowa won at least 1 NC with him here.

I don’t know when Kirk will retire. But, it’s going to take a monumental miracle for Brian to overcome this level of incompetence to be our next head coach.
Stoops bringing a NC to Iowa highly unlikely. However I think he would get Iowa to more New Year 6 type bowls and would for sure not be going 0-6 these past 6 years at winning a B1G West Championship. I can't see him struggling with Northwestern and Purdue either. Nor would Wisconsin's dominance over Iowa for over a decade be a thing.

When Stoops left OU, when asked if he would consider returning to coaching, he said if the "Right" job opened up. I think his love of the school would make Iowa a possible "Right" job if and when Kirk hangs it up. Hell, he has been an open cheerleader for Iowa, so I think there would be a chance he would take the job. I doubt his idea of the "Right" job was the X football coaching he did.

I would give anything to have Bob come out of retirement, return to his alma mater for a 5-year run as HC, and groom his replacement while at it.
Bob loves Iowa in the biggest way.
But here's the problem: Kirk has no desire to retire anytime soon. Kirk will retire when KF feels he can't do it anymore and most who know KF well believe he wants to go to 70 or beyond. Kirk believes Iowa needs him.
More and more fans I think are getting Ferentz Fatigue. 23 years is a long ass time and I am among those who feel we have hit the ceiling with Kirk. We will see nothing better here with him the rest of his tenure here.
