This. Sleeping in your own bed and a relatively normal routine before a game is worth at least a few points. Winning on the road with or without crowds is difficult. And for competitors like JoBo who draw some of their focus/strength from those crowds, this is more difficult. It is interesting. I wonder if it is travel, hydration and rest. The NBA focuses on quality rest.
I would add the fact that the NCAA still allows home teams to decide what basketball to use instead of having one standard ball is a big deal for the home team. We're at Maryland and they use an Under Armour ball, that we've had some issues with before. Some teams use Nike, some Wilson etc... and the grain and feel on each ball is different.....Getting used to the shooting background, light, rim give, hell even how the net reacts to a shot going all add up to home turf playing a huge role in basketball.
Crowd noise probably effects officiating more than it does player performance.

I agree, its ridiculous that they don't use a standard ball for all games. Unfortunately just another apparel company tie in where $$$ makes the decisions and not common sense. The different brand basketball is the craziest thing in college basketball. Why not require all teams to use what is used in the NCAA tournament.
Oh yeah, I know. $$$$
