Eh well it wasn't good. I believe there was 2-3 arrests. His substance problems were nationally known. Not that these two are anywhere close but it was definitely a win at all costs approach.

Bad day at the markets, lost more money than I should've. I just am sick and tired of their crap. This is an Iowa forum, don't they have better things to do than comment on our stuff. Montell Marion's rap sheet was no better then Long, especially when you consider the stuff that was buried and he sat one semester just like Long. How about all the other Hawks that had DUIs, other alcohol related incidents, disorderly conducts, poaching and theft under Brands and didn't sit for one event? Seems to me Iowa's overall rap sheet is a lot longer then Penn States under Sanderson since 2011. When you work in the middle of the night sometimes the odd hours you seep/dont sleep get to you. I have rage days once in a while. My wife has just learned to let me rant and tell me to get some rest.

It may have not been documented but Long had his troubles in HS if you can believe what you hear from people in the neighborhood. As good as he was it sounds to me like if he had McDounoughs work ethic and character he would have been a 4 timer and probably undefeated.

You realize Montells OWI was on a moped, correct? OWI's are bad because you could kill some innocent person. Ed's OWI and Montells are as different as shooting someone with a paintball gun and a high powered rifle. Not excusing theft, DUI on a moped, hunting violations etc., but...How many Iowa wrestlers are felons or registered sex offenders?

Lets not lose sight of the fact Long never stepped on the mat for Penn State after that incident. When he came in, his issues were relatively minor in comparison (fighting/drinking). Now Grandview, well that's a different story. Personally, I was still rooting for Long to right the ship with his 3rd chance but even a year of incarceration wasn't enough to get his act together.

In regard to PD3, that would be a huge roll of the dice for any coach and think it is highly unlikely that he ends up at Iowa. The downside is just too big.
