BREVIN DOLL WILL SOON BE ON THE IOWA PRACTICE FIELD! Ran 10.74 in the 100-meter dash and 21.89 in the 200-meter dash at the state track meet his sophomore year. 2022: Rushed for 1,475 yards and 27 touchdowns and had 640 receiving yards with six touchdowns as a junior. All-state selection and Iowa 3A Offensive Player of the Year.Apr 16, 2023

REMEMBER THAT I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO TELL YOU THAT COOPER DEJEAN WOULD BE FANTASTIC WHEN HE GOT TO IOWA.

Cooper had a best of 10.71 at the 2021 district track meet.

Just for future reference: I broke the CR Washington mile record with a 4:39 at the Bobcat Relays.

Iowa All-Time Boys Track & Field Records Event Name School Performance Year. 100 m Adam Haluska, Carroll 10.1 2002. 200 m Tim Dwight Iowa City, City HS, 20.8, 1994. 400 m Calvin Davis Iowa City, City 47.01 2002. 800 m David Korir CR Washington 1:49.3 1975.

I once said after Spencer's first start, that no QB wears loose 3/4 sleeves like Reno Hightower and that he wasn't a BIG10 QB.

Oh yeah. Well just for future reference, I placed second at the 5th grade science fair with my monarch life cycle / chrysalis display. Would have had first place were it not for another one of those plaster volcanoes. Stupid judges. Any idiot can mix vinegar and baking soda.

We are all well aware of what Brevin Doll brings to the table and are looking forward to it.

I don't know a single Hawkeye fan that didn't think CDJ had tremendous potential: based on his all around great athletic ability.

4:39? Meh. I ran track on a class 2-A track team in small town Iowa and we had two milers who ran better than 4:39. That was in 1987.

Don't forget the old adage that when you have to continually tell people how great you are, you ain't great. But thanks for the info.

Continually ?! Seems a bit strong and not necessarily germane on a message board full of strangers

Do they still run the John Ask relays in CR?

Did you also know Spencer broke all of Goff's HS passing records? :) Also, I think the Haluska time was heavily wind aided, not sure that shouldn't have an asterisk by it.

Untill convinced otherwise, IMO the greatest high school track performance by a Hawkeye football recruit has to go to Tyler Nielsen. At 6ft4 and 225lbs Nielsen won the 2007 State 3A 400m title with a time of :49.9. I don't care what any one says, a LB that can clock a sub :50 400 is simply unbelievable! That's a big dude with an enormous gas tank. One of my favorite Hawks on the field also.

For the record, Haluska never ran anywhere near 10.1 electronically timed. And Dwight never ran near 20.8 in the 200. At least not at Drake or the state meet. He barely cracked 21 seconds in college. Hand timing cracks me up.

During high school, I played junior hockey and still hold two league records: most time spent in the penalty box; and I was the only guy to ever take off his skate and try to stab somebody.

Warren Sapp was asked who is the fastest white guy in the NFL - his answer Tim Dwight. Then he was asked who is the fastest guy was in the NFL - his answer Tim Dwight. Dwight had world class speed and yes I understand that may have been in part developed while in college.

Define "world class speed." If you're referring to him probably being among the fastest players in the league during his time in the NFL, then I agree. In the track world, his best ever 100 would have placed him in second-to-last place at the 1999 NCAA meet. And his PR wouldn't even have placed him in the 200 meter final. And that's only college.

Four-minute mile - Wikipedia

A four-minute mile is the completion of a mile run (1.6 km) in four minutes or less. It was first achieved in 1954 by Roger Bannister, at age 25, in 3:59.4. As of June 2022, the "four-minute barrier" has been broken by 1,755 athletes, and is now a standard of professional middle distance runners in several cultures.
BY THE WAY, IT WAS FRICKING HAND TIMED ALL YOU SMART F^RTS. LOL

I didn't say I was great! Read the passage again. I said I broke the school record for the mile run. Fact check boy!

In the 1999 World Championships the 8th place finisher ran the 100 meters in 10.24. Dwight's personal record for the 100 meters, also in 1999 was 10.31. I'd say that is pretty world class for that time period.

Big props to you for setting your school record. Back whenever. Akin to being your class president. Feels good at the time, but a year later nobody cares. Anyway... im glad it makes you feel good, really.

Haluska was fast, and no disrespect to him, but that was a hand-timed 10.1.

Yea last I checked, our still standing school record was at that same meet I was at - it was easily 30+mph tail wind that day. I remember nearly getting knocked over coming around the turn in the 400m hurdles.
