Anyone else see Brian Ferentz talk at the coaching clinic in Chicago last week? Pretty disappointing, IMO, on how he spoke and conducted himself. Considering he recruits the Illinois territory and is out to create a positive image, I don't think he did himself any favors. While speaking, the guy literally drops some 10 f-bombs and says $hit another dozen plus times all in the first 20 minutes. Just came across very arrogant to a lot of people. Kind of railed on Hayden Fry and how he had his TE's standing up as one of the dumbest things he has seen. I was there with a guy who played for Iowa under Hayden Fry and he got so turned off, he got up and walked out. It was just very surprising and disappointing as he is a guy who has always spoke very well when being interviewed.

Just curious if anyone else saw him speak that same weekend and got the same impression. Just thought it was unprofessional and not what you would expect.

Doesn't surprise me. Not the first time he has been a little unprofessional in speaking. He has spouted off on Twitter before too.

Very disappointing he would rail on Fry though.

Yeah, cuz Hayden never had any success with those stand up tight ends....and I don't think a single one of them ever played in the NFL.

For someone that falls all over herself to state that she does not use Twitter, YOU sure are one of the first to use it against someone. That obsession of hatred of certain people in the Iowa Athletic Department is not doing YOU any favors, Pretnder.

oh my gosh he used bad words!! coaches should never do that! He is going to hell!

I can understand how that could be disappointing. However, people have different takes on swearing; most people take time and place into consideration. Whether a coaching clinic s an appropriate place is certainly debatable. With that said, if I'm considering who I want to spend the next 4-5 years busting my butt (or other choice language) for, I'd appreciate knowing the how that person is going to conduct themselves during those years, as opposed to some facade presented at a coaches clinic.

If it's true that he said Fry's decision to stand the tight ends up is "one of the dumbest things he's seen," then I'm disappointed. However, seeing how you mentioned that he "kind of railed on Fry," makes me wish I had heard the actual quote.

FG86,
Do you think your constant derogatory remarks about student athletes and coaches at Iowa are very 'professional'?
You try to 'pretend' you are some 'professional' something, and state that you still have 'connections' within the iowa athletic dept. but I can assure non of them would associate with you if they were aware of your antics on this site, especially talking about student athletes....

Count me as someone that doesn't believe you

Maybe channeling his inner Zooker to try to connect to the kids these days?

He dissed on Fry in a public forum like that then he can join Barta in getting the f out. I haven't seen anything good come out of what he was supposed to be coaching since he arrived. Nepotism undermines the great American meritocracy.

lol......I don't care if you believe me or not. I was asking if there were other people there who observed the same things I did. It was a huge roomful of coaches so it's not like it is a secret. As for the quote on what he said about Fry, he did reference the TE's standing up as being dumb.

Yes, I have quite a foul mouth on me, also, when I am with my friends. When I am presenting, I choose to put on a different front, however. It's strictly my opinion as others probably don't mind. I just thought it was unprofessional is all. If I was drinking beer with him or in a different setting, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. I have heard him speak to the press, however, and was impressed with how he conducted himself. I guess it was just not what I expected.

The great American meritocracy! That is the funniest thing I've ever read on this board! Well done, sir...

Did he explain what a running back coordinator is, does and why Iowa needs one? I would be very disappointed if your allegation is true. Either your allegation or his behavior is over the top and it seems implausible to me he would speak in such a manner in public representing the university.

What...are you suggesting the greatest measure of merit in our society is the amount of $ in your pocket? Nah, you couldn't be...

What? When did this occur? Does one have to use Twitter to know what others tweet?

What favors do you think I am trying to seek anyway?

I would have to hear or see the actual quote about Fry before I would believe it. It would seem more likely he was saying OTHER PEOPLE said it was dumb--until Fry proved them wrong. Why were you there, BTW.

That's unbelievable. ...as in it's really hard to believe.

If he did this, he should be put on a disciplinary program. Not professional at all and a very poor representation of Iowa.

For the people that are truly offended....it tells me you haven't been to many football clinics. The glazier clinic I was at last week...the only presentation that didn't have some colorful, language was the FCA presentation.

I've been to hundreds of clinics and unfortunately the swearing and reference to other players or coaches is never good. Fortunately recruits or current players aren't sitting in the audience. Current and former players love Brian and he is a smooth recruiter. I don't think a 20 minute clinic is going to help or hinder recruiting.

FG is a poser.

Like all great clown fans he takes any and every opportunity to rail on Iowa Coaches or Players. Being a douchebag is just how isu, its fans, players coaches, AD, donors, racist students, web site owner operators and professors. FG makes Pollad "SO PROUD".

We eant more. We want more. We want more. FG is just the one to give it to us, just watch.

Was this your first time to a Glazier clinic? What did you think? Would you recommend it?

This post sounds like B.S., probably not very accurate, to say the least.

Matt foley.....have been to a lot of glaziers over the years..they are very good and very football intensive. A good variety of offense, defense and special teams presentations. I don't go to the campus clinics anymore as they tend to be too much filler..but the glaziers are like a football "class."

If you coach you should go to them and get everyone on your staff to go.

The bottom line is.

Brian Ferentz has no business speaking at any kind of coaching clinic. He should sit his ass down, shut his mouth, and listen....maybe he could learn something.

But wasn't he invited to run drills at the NFL combine his last season in the NFL. Brian Ferentzs is not the problem. He and Levar woods are two of the best thing Iowa has going. People will be much happier when/if Kirk names a passing game coordinator not named Davis. This is a nice way of naming co-offense coordinators. I find it funny when people question the move, the kid turned down the offense coordinator for PSU under O'Brien. Then he turned down the offensive line job for the Texans twice. If he has this much respect by NFL coaches he will be fine at Iowa.

Floyd is that your PROFESSIONAL opinion or is the opinion of a no nothing poster, that needs to sit down and shut up?

Link to this, never heard about it

How in the wide-wide-world-of-sports can you prove that Brian Ferentz was ever offered a coaching position anywhere besides IOWA? OC at PSU.....are you kidding?

The only job offer he ever had was at IOWA.

if Brian's last name was anything other than Ferentz none of these poster would be saying anything negative about him, he is being condemned simply because his dad is IA's HC and they want him fired in the worst way. so Brian get trashed as well,

Matt, like most others here I would prefer you just leave, but if you're going to stick around, could you at least learn to use the goddam quote function, you dumb bastard?

If Brian's last name was anything other than Ferentz......he never would have been hired.
