Brock Harding.

He uses both hands to pass, which you don’t see too often. Makes a lot of good passes with his left hand.

He’s not a great shooter yet and his defense isn’t very good, but Iowa needs neither.
Ah, no. We need both. He is looking like an assist machine, we need that too. Gotta get bigger, play thru contact, shoot the ball reasonably well and he's going to have to play defense against some of the best pg's in the country.

2games in…Ill wait until we play against someone with a pulse before getting too excited.

Id argue he’s better than the pg that started all of last year.
So you downplay Brock’s play with your first post then praise Bowen who has played the same teams and has worse stats than Brock? That doesn’t seem to make sense.

Brock was named Illinois Player of the Year.

He was named Mr Basketball of Illinois.

These highlights are from Oct 12, 2022. His first 2 makes are against Owen Freeman.

I am not too worried about his shooting ability and a turnover here and there. I think he'll settle down & get even better.

Check this out & watch:

I praised bowen by saying he’s better than Ulis, who was trash last year? Not sure hardings stats are any better than
Bowens either, flashier sure. Bowen has a year under his belt in BIG play, and has 5” on harding so we’ll see how it plays out. Like i said, let’s see how harding looks against teams that have a pulse and who’s pg’s are bigger and more athletic than him. Creighton will likely be a good indicator

Brock Harding on Tuesday's matchup vs. Creighton:

“I think our whole team is just really excited to see where we stack up. Obviously, they’re a highly-ranked team. We think we have a great chance of coming in there ready to go. And I think our guys are excited to get to play on a big stage early in the season.”

I keep seeing parallels with JBo. Undersized white kid with a can do attitude. So far not the shooter that Bohannon was, but a better passer. Both started the season on the bench but, for Bohannon, forced his way into the starting lineup by the seventh game and I could see Harding doing the same.

Not very similar game to JBO at all IMO. One is a pass first PG who creates space with his handles and court vision. The other was a quick release shooter who created space with his 3 point range.

Yeah, no, good player, not a great point guard. Not on the same level as Ronnie Lester and BJ and hopefully Harding.

Totally different players IMO.

Bohannon was a good passer but had no quickness to get around a defender so was never able to create easy looks for others.

Brock operates in the lane like a pg is supposed to. Bohannon rarely did anything inside the arc shooting or passing.

Not to mention he was an All-American.

And 2x First BT …only person to do that since him is Garza.
I am not trying to bash Woolridge, but he was not nearly as good as Lester and Armstrong. A sign of a great point guard is how well the team does. Also, Lester and Armstrong were 1st team All Americans. And I believe both were 1st round picks....I may be wrong there. Woolridge wasn't even drafted. I am guessing that those putting Woolridge on the same level of as Lester/Armstrong were in college at that time and have a limited knowledge of Hawkeye basketball prior to Woolridge. Again he was a good player, nowhere near great.

I like the floater Harding showed. If you could combine JBO shooting and Harding everthing else, you would have a really good player.

I had high hopes for Bowen, but he seems to be lacking passing instincts and an outside shot.

The best guard combo might be Dix and Harding.

BJ was not 1st team All-American, he was honorable mention.

He wasn't even 1st team all conference, getting 2nd team honors his jr and sr seasons.

And BJ led a team w/ 3 NBA draft picks, 2 of the first rounders, to a 2nd round NCAA Tourney exit his senior year.

Woolridge was 3rd team AA and 1st team all Big 10 twice.

So maybe it is you who has limited knowledge of Hawkeye basketball.

And yet his number isn't retired like Lester and Armstrong. And I must have missed Woolridge playing in the NBA All Star game and three world championships. You are so confused.

They are not reallly close at all in terms of speed and quickness.

He is not as tall as some PGs, but he has the footspeed and vision to make up for it. He has already displayed signs of elite PG play with his ability to see the floor while dribbling. Passing the ball with one hand is not only faster ballspeed, but the defense can't read it as quickly as when you gather. Not everyone who plays bball practices it enough and they end up being wildly inaccurate with it. Brock has clearly got it down.

Really? Like BJ especially didn't have WAY more talent around him then Dre? Dre was also the first, (and maybe only player ever), to lead the B1G in scoring AND assists. Mens that is of course...
