Bubble Watch Rooting Interests 3/8/17

A lose to IND and we'd rightfully be OUT. If we beat IN it MIGHT be enough depending on IL, Xavier, K State, RI, Wake Forest (but they're probably in), USC....Also a run by CAL or Clemson could complicate matters. REALLY would help if Michigan can dispense with IL tomorrow and take them out of pic. B10 NOT getting 9 teams in
Why do you say that? What if B1G finals are Illinois vs Iowa? Or what if the semis are Illinois vs Penn St; Iowa vs Ohio St and the final is PSU vs OSU? I could see up to 10 B1G teams making it (One Autobid + all current projected teams + Illinois and Iowa or Indiana). Everything is fluid and conference affiliation doesn't matter.

Now if Virginia can knock Pitt out, the ACC will be restricted to 10 teams max, and likely only 9 (opening an extra spot for the bubble).

The only way the B10 is getting 9 teams in is with Illinois vs Iowa/Indiana in the finals. Otherwise it's 7, possible 8 teams.

The committee has already shown what they think of the conference this year.

Off topic: if ESPN's score is right... 11 win Air Force leads 18 win Wyoming 23-0?! Is that for real? Did they start play before Wyoming arrived?

I really don't think the committee cares that much how many teams from each conference make it. I don't know enough about Illinois, but if Iowa makes the semifinals then I have to believe they are a lock.

People have Iowa/Illinois neck and neck. Illinois leads in RPI and SOS (and head to head); Iowa has better quality wins.

Point taken per fluidity. Would still be nice for IL to lose tomorrow.

Semis would have to be a lock barring a crazy perfect storm of "giant-killers" and/or all the teams that are supposedly "ahead" of us also making the semis of their tourneys.

Yeah - the biggest threat at this point is actually the major conferences seeing teams out of contention go on a run to win their tournament without damaging any of the at large contenders.

Illinois losing would help Iowa, because that may boost Michigan to the top 50 rpi range, if they aren't there already.

Top 50 wins looks good, it's an established fact the committee looks at how teams do against the top 100 / 50 / 25. Also, Illinois is lumped in around Iowa on the "first 4 out" lists. Of course I want Illinois to lose this game.

Not taking away from the most important part that Iowa needs to win as many as possible in the tournament.

So the ACC broke perfectly for us today, but Xavier avoids a one-and-done tournament and should solidify their dance ticket. Washington is giving USC a game so far, but since I don't get the PAC12 network, I'm not going to stay up for the result.
