Ok so you have no problem that she profits on endorsements when someone already paved the way for her.
If she’s a great wnba player and the organization and the league start making money, she will pave the way for others to make more money. Including her.
They can’t just give her a crap load of money because she has a following. The league has rules and regulations.
This isn’t like being a social media influencer.
1. CC will do fine, at least in the near term until she is essentially assimilated by the Borg/black hole that is the WNBA. Thankfully, she seems to have a decent head on her shoulders and so hopefully she will invest wisely.
2. The WNBA as a going concern is not exactly a great investment, and would be worse if it were not propped up by the NBA. Poor businesses generally don't pay exaggerated salaries to their employees, no matter how much their employees may believe in the labor theory of value. It is, for all intents and purposes, a charitable endeavor.
3. If you really want to ponder a truly bizarre diminution of value curve, consider the following. The value of the 200th best (median NBA male) basketball player in the world is in the range of $4-5MM per year. The value of, say, the 500th best (male) basketball player in the world (i.e., playing in the G league) is about $40k per year. Interestingly, the annual revenue of the G league and the WNBA is about the same ($200MM). Maybe it's not actually the WNBA rookie that's underpaid. Or at worst, taking into account revenue per player, maybe the WNBA player is being paid just about right.

WNBA ticket sales are going crazy already because of her. Las Vegas rented a 20,000 seat arena for her game because their 12,000 seat arena was selling our before the draft. When they play at MN tickets are going for over $230 on average for that game, normal tickets go for $45. Courtside seats $1400. The list goes on and on. Not sure it's sustainable but season one is going to be crazy.

Here’s the ticket data broken down by team for all 19 Fever away games (all listed before fees):
- Atlanta Dream: Single-game tickets are not available yet, but the StubHub get-in prices are $133 and $144 for games on June 21 and Aug. 26.
- Chicago Sky: $125 for Fever games on June 23 and Aug. 30. When the reigning champion Aces come to town, tickets are $25.
- Connecticut Sun: $88.09 and $71.45 for Fever games on May 14 and June 10.
- Dallas Wings: Single-game tickets are not available yet, but the StubHub get-in prices are $140 and $119 for games on July 17 and Sept. 1.
- Las Vegas Aces: $108.07 for the May 25 game at their usual arena. Tickets for the Aces usually start at $15, including for the T-Mobile Arena game against the Fever, and the team has already sold out five games this season, including the Fever.

Also, note that the League benefits very little from stubhub, so even accepting some short term spike in prices, it doesn't necessarily translate to long term league revenue growth unless the league thinks it's sustainable enough to raise prices 'next year'.
BTW, a word of caution. The Mystics stadium is not exactly in the best part of town, and that's saying something given that the Wizards' stadium is quickly becoming not the best part of town.
Remind me again who which woman basketball player paved the way for her with huge endorsements based upon merit and not sex appeal? And, as stated above, I understand the framework of existing contracts. My point is that the assumptions supporting the math forming the basis of the collective bargaining agreement are no longer - or likely no longer - applicable. The league will have a huge windfall. I am curious what they will do with it. In a vacuum, they would pocket it. With this glaring spotlight on the league and Caitlin, I just wonder what kind of fairy dust - if any - will be sprinkled around. Probably none. But it will be interesting, nevertheless, to see what happens.

Well, this was before your time on the board. But through the Bush and Obama years, OiT was considered - by both sides, liberal or conservative - to be crazy, nutty, wacky, basically a friendlier version of Qanon before Qanon was a thing. I believe this and CC would have been a bargain at $5 million. FOX had an Iowa game on every Saturday once football season was over this past year. She should have stayed at Iowa. Nobody would have blamed her given the black hole the WNBA is. Oh wait, yeah, the line of haters would have been long.
