Caitlin ends her Iowa Career with 3,951 Points (NCAA & All-Time "Large School" Record). Megan Gustafson finished at 2,804

I thought I heard a stat from the play by play last night. Caitlin holds scoring records in 3 B1G arenas. Too lazy to look it up. But, that wouldn't surprise me. In just under two seasons, to hold scoring records in 3 conference arenas? Insane.

I presume that Clark's scoring may drop a little the next couple years with the infusion of some young talented players. She's going to however turn into a triple double machine facilitating.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. If all these highly rated gals live up to their hype I don't see Clark scoring at the pace she is now. There's only one ball after all. I think the team will be better and more diverse, but don't think you'll see CC dropping almost 30/game. If she does that may actually be a problem......

If the gals make a run in the BTT and NCAA, she can get in more than 34 games a year, so at current rate should break the NCAA record.
Also, on a different note - her picture above where she is dribbling - she has her hand on the side of the ball at chest height. I really hate what the players can get by with carrying the ball no days. Some guys just carry it every dribble but it isn't called anymore.
Again I don't see her scoring at that pace the next two years considering the talent coming in. Everyone is going to want to be involved in the offense. There are times in games now where she has stretches where she pulls from deep without ever running the offense, or consumes the ball for periods. That may be fine now as 75 to 80% of the offense is her and MC and Warnock. That may not be the best case scenario after this year. Will see how she handles it or how much Bluder has to intervene.....

The arena record is 45 points by Brian Quinnett of Washington State (1986).

Garza's 41 points on November 27, 2020 vs Southern is the most by a Hawkeye in a game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena; the previous record was 36 by Adam Haluska (2006) and Rob Griffin (2000).

OVERALL: Iowa’s single-game scoring record is 49 points, set by John Johnson in a 1970 game against Northwestern.

Garza and Johnson are the only two Hawkeyes with two 40-point games.
Can anyone confirm the Brian Quinnett game was played against a team other than Iowa? Believe it was Amana Hawkeye Classic game.

You are correct.

In the 1986 Amana Hawkeye Classic Semi-final games:

Iowa beat Delaware 95-47.

Loyola-Marymount beat Washington State 96-89. Washington State's Brian Quinnett scored 45 points in this game.

The story from UPI:

DEC. 6, 1986

College Basketball Roundup

Sixth-ranked Iowa risks a perfect record tonight against unranked and undefeated Loyola-Marymount, a team averaging nearly 100 points a game this season.

Iowa, led by three players in double figures, reeled off 23 unanswered points and advanced to the final of the Amana-Hawkeye Classic Friday night with a 95-47 rout of Delaware. Mike Yoest scored 35 points to lead Loyola-Marymount into the final with a 96-89 triumph over Washington State.

'We kind of took control of the game in the first nine or 10 minutes,' Iowa Coach Tom Davis said. 'We got them down early and they just couldn't get back into it. They're really a much better team than they showed tonight.'

'I was disappointed we didn't score 100 points,' said Loyola-Marymount Coach Paul Westhead, whose team had entered the game with a 106-point scoring average. 'We're a 100-point team and I want us to run and score a lot more than we did tonight. We plan to do that against Iowa tomorrow.'

The first-round victories by Iowa, 5-0, and Loyola-Marymount, 3-0, sets up a championship game between two teams with similar fast-breaking offensive styles.

Iowa's Brad Lohaus scored 16 points, Kevin Gamble added 15 and Jeff Moe had 14 in the Hawkeyes' opening victory.

Washington State, 2-2, which received a tournament-record 45 points from Brian Quinnett, faces Delaware, 2-1, in the consolation game. Quinnett's performance erased the previous scoring mark of 33 points set by Steve Mitchell of Alabama-Birmingham last year. The 45-point effort also eclipsed the school record of 43 points set by Guy Williams against Idaho State in 1983.

Just to build on @Kinnick.At.Night 's thread and on the uniqueness of Caitlin Clark....

The orig post has been updated.

Career point projections for Caitlin are based on her playing 4 years at Iowa. She could play an additional year, which could potentially add 931 points to her projected 3,511 points.

A former Iowa Hawkeye scored more points in her career, albiet at a much smaller school. I wonder how Remmerde would have done had she stayed at Iowa.

Did she ever play for Iowa? All I remember is watching her play in the Game Time League. I think she was injured in the freshman year?

Remmerde suffered a stress fracture in her left foot in preseason practice and has still not fully recovered from her injury. The native of Rock Valley, played limited minutes in two games this season (Kansas State and Drake). The 5-9 guard is the Iowa high school all-time scoring leader and was named Miss Basketball her senior year.

She was a 2x National Player of the Year at Northwestern College.

Still surprised that the strong AIAW schools like Iowa allowed the NCAA to mostly write the AIAW greats out of the record book, including Lynette Woodard, a four-time Kodak All-American at the University of Kansas (1978, 1979, 1980, 1981) and the all-time leading scorer for Division I women’s collegiate basketball with 3,649 points

The question may be how many points would Rick Mount have scored? Didn't he drop 60 on Iowa in the fieldhouse?

I've seen where someone looked at that, but cannot remember what the total was. I would guess it would have added another 10 or so points.

Just from recollecting. Iowa beat Purdue both time in 69-70 season. Iowa averaged over 100pts per game that year. I remember listening to that last Iowa vs Purdue game on the car radio with my Dad. Mount I believe scored 60 POINTS in that game, BUT Iowa won 108-107 or something by 1 point. Mount averaged over 35 pts /game that year and over 32/game in his career.... Crazy.....

Mount had 114 points in the 2 Iowa games, and lost both, IIRC.

I could be wrong on this but I believe Pete Maravich, then Rick Mount, then Calvin Murphy were 1, 2, 3 in scoring during their last 3 seasons. In 69-70 Maravich 44.5, Mount 35.4 and Murphy 29.4. Crazy indeed.
