No dude, you never heard that saying history repeats if you don't fvcking learn from it? This is the shit that fvcking pisses me off....this is basic shit on how to rule your lives in a country, don't let dictators take over. DON'T give them a chance. Don't even risk it. Rome, Italy, Germany, Russia, Cuba, China....it goes on, on to some degree. Trump's fvcking sounds like a lot of them, while praising ones of today. You can't deny this. Please would you learn from history?
The thing is trump isn't even promoting a conservative agenda. Since this thread is about Cheney when she was in office she voted with Trump over 90% of the time. Basically the only thing they don't agree on is that it is not ok to overthrow democracy. The reaction to her was a huge turning point. The fact that Republicans doubled down on Trump after January 6th and kicked her out said all we needed to know about what pieces of shit Republicans are. If they truly believed it was about his policies and not him they would have shoved him to the side and turned to someone else who can also promote the conservative agenda.
The thing Republicans are having a hard time with is most of the country does not like their regressive policies at all. So they can't win. So instead of being grown ups and accepting this and adapting their policies, they embrace Trump like a bunch of children because with him democracy does not matter and they can shove their agenda down our throats even though the vast majority of us don't want it (including many MAGAts who are too stupid to realize what will happen if Trump does get back in). And to me yes that makes them either evil as far as the people who understand what trump is doing and still want it, or really stupid as far as the people who don't understand and embrace it anyway. Those are the options for anyone who still support Trump at this point. You are either an evil piece of shit or a stupid piece of shit. There are no other options.

Yeah it's called self denial. No one wants to identify themselves as a piece of shit but it's clear at this point trump supporters are unwilling to look inside and see why they support such a vile person. And it's not even totally about him being a vile person it's the fact that the are so ok with supporting a person who adamantly goes against the principles our country was founded on. If a certain segment did some self reflection and dumped the orange turd we would have zero disagreement about said fecal matter.

Yet he will still say it isn't about trump it's about the conservative agenda. They've shown time and time again that isn't the case. At every turn they could have gotten rid of trump and got behind someone who would enact the conservative agenda and still at the very least respected democracy but they are like the confederates screaming states rights. It wasn't about states rights it was about their rights to keep slaves. And this isn't about their conservative agenda it's about forcing the rest of us to live life like they do. Because us being different scares them and they don't like it.

She realizes the principles our country was founded on and realizes that is more important than her personal beliefs being enacted. She wants a stable person in there who respect our democracy and she wants to work with that person through debate and compromise to come to solutions that work for everyone. The key word in your post is ‘attempt’. They might very well attempt to keep Johnson in the Speaker position, but it’s far from certain that those efforts would be successful. Hence why I wrote ”We don’t even know if Johnson will still be Speaker of the House when it comes time to certify the results.”
