Clinton on why she lost

After running for President twice and being rejected twice, one would think some quiet self-reflection would be in order. Not surprised Granny chose to play the blame game. Really is a microcosm for why the Dems are in their weakest position since 1920 - name calling and the race to see who can be the most offended plays well with college profs and in SF, NY or Hollywood, but not so much in most of the country.

There is such a thing as the culmination of a thing. Of course consumerism has been occurring. What's changed is the level and type, and how the consumerist behavior has now extended into infotainment consumption—the combo of 24-hour "news" channels, 24-hour "news" talk radio, always-available "news" websites, ever-present Twitter "news" feeds, Facebook.

I have never claimed to represent a party. You assigned one to me. That's fine.

I'm going to end with this…

Think of the other candidate who generated the enthusiasm to match, if not exceed, that of Trump. The one whose rallies generated record crowds, greatly outnumbering those for Trump. His large crowds, the enthusiasm, these shared a common thread to Trump's campaign: Sanders was tapping into the sense of, the feeling of, victimhood. The difference being that Sanders actually has real ideas, workable ideas, based on a lifetime in politics and a keen understanding of what has worked, and why, in other parts of the world. Take a very close look, do some research, on Bernie's career. Start with his mayorship of Burlington, VT. Small city, sure, but a small city that face many issues most municipalities face in some degree or another. Check out what he did, whether it worked or not, and decide for yourself if it is scalable or not. Do this for his work as mayor, then repeat for the rest of his career. A lot of work, but then sustaining a truly functioning, truly democratic society is just that: work. It's not being spoon-fed narratives, often abjectly or partly false, gulping it down with gluttonous zeal.

Surely you'll scoff at this, but maybe consider why? We know why the DNC marginalized Bernie. But why is/was he marginalized by pretty much all power structures?

There is a great quote that I am trying to find, by I believe MLK, about how people who present threats to power are treated. They are usually dismissed and/or vilified, or killed. MLK was fine and safe when his work was focused on civil rights, because we're a country that believes in civil rights. Don't kill someone on civil rights or you'll martyr him. Where he became a real threat was when his message turned to the crimes of poverty and hunger in a capitalist society. It was then that he was really putting his life on the line. Do not touch capitalism. Never mind that the lords of capitalism siphon money the same way a socialist dictator has been guilty of doing.

You can apply this to Trump, even, with how he is being treated. The difference being, his "treatment" is not top-down driven, though surely you'll disagree. It is from ground-up. He stands as a threat to even further consolidate power away from the people. And besides that, he's just repulsive. And this is not media-driven, this negative reaction to Trump. The media treated Trump with kid gloves throughout his ascendancy. Of course now the media is scrutinizing and analyzing his every move, his every tweet, but this is more in response to the grassroots response than it is to some top-down narrative directive.

The bottom line is, Trump is empty branding, all emotion, all about how he makes people feel. If I'm a white man, deeply insecure to the point that the only thing that makes me feel good about myself is that I happen to be a white man? Trump is going to make me feel good.

He's going to make me feel good about objectifying women.

He's going to make me feel good about being leery of the brown family that moved into the neighborhood.

He's going to make me feel good about blaming every damn person and every damn thing for whatever it is that I feel so righteously angry or frustrated.

He's going to make me feel good for being a white man.

And he's going to make me feel nice and secure that he has my interests at heart, because he just "gets it".

Trump is a mirror. Hope you like what you see.
FYI - I preferred Bernie over HRC... At least he wasn't a lying POS like her. NO, I don't agree with most of his ideology as I am not a socialist, but congress would have been bigger lame ducks then they are now with Trump had Bernie gotten in office.

I am guessing the liberal quote for the month of Sept is "its a mirror". It will be used until you break it, then you blame everyone else for your stumble and breaking of the mirror (typical). Guess it will get you and the Dems another 4 years of bad luck.

So if you with to label me a party, it would "I" for independent.

Dammit we were doing better than this. First, don't associate me with a party. Second, don't pretend to know what Bernie's full ideology is until you can speak to specifics he's accomplished—be it as mayor or otherwise.

That you sort of summarily dismiss Bernie because of the "socialist" label is pretty disappointing given how I teed you up for something better.

Goddamnit I hate laziness.

The mirror thing, if it's being used elsewhere I am not aware of it. It may surprise you but I do not tune into into any of the "news' crap on TV.

Bernie promises a lot that he has no way (even if elected) to deliver on. I liked that he put the IRS to task and protected Pensions. The CHild labor amendment was a good one as well. I don't believe in "free" anything as I was raised to earn what you get. if you want a "free" education, join the military, be exceptional athletically, or super smart...

Just a few.

Belief is a tough thing when you have been offended, I have empathy for you.
I would believe you more if your posts were "independent".

Maybe you actually are in real life, but your posts scream Trump supporter.

Those votes happened in two states when you look at state by state totals. New York, and California.
Yea, but that doesn't change my overall point.

This wasn't some sweeping mandate against the terrible liberal agenda and it wasn't a sweeping mandate for the amazing conservative agenda.

Look at Wisconsin for example. Trump won by a mere 10k votes. Less than 1%. Same story in Michigan.

Yes, he won. But, it wasn't some sweeping mandate by "blue collar" midwest. If R's think that, they may be in for a rude awakening come 2020 (or even '18).

When I see hypocrisy I state it - tired of seeing one side dog the other when both sides have done it. So I would agree mostly with your statement about appearing R on these forums. I did however speak up when it was done to Obama as well, and Bush, and Clinton. (Well not on here when it was Clinton, not sure if HROT was around then..).

Trump is far from my "perfect" candidate, I liked Rod Silva as well as Evan and Mindy but none made it...

I haven't read or watched anyone way that it was a sweeping mandate for the "blue collar midwest". I know I certainly don't believe that for a second. What this election was.......was a definite vote of no confidence in career politicians. That the choices that the Democrats and GOP put up were so bad, when it came to establishment choices.....that someone everyone knows to be a raging asshole, got the nod.

Hillary was woefully inept in many categories.........especially in the likability category. The sound of her shrill voice, her speaking style, her disingenuous nature, and her inability to take accountability for her actions and words....turned millions of voters off. And that she completely ignored democrat stronghold states.

She ran an atrocious campaign.....and most everyone sees it and acknowledges it......except her. The Shitshow that is the DNC certainly didn't help her.

Wrong. She lost because a minority of voters in selected states derelicted their duty and betrayed their country by voting for an obviously unqualified and intellectually, temperamentally and morally unfit con man for the most important job in the world.
Damn that description can be applied not only to trump supporters but HIllary and her ilk as well. Nicely done, two for one!

I agree with that. She still only lost by 77k votes.

In most years, Trump's campaign (which was equally inept) gets him a McCain style as*-whooping.

I agree. Any other year, he gets pasted. Just like most other years, Hillary would have too. The problem is I'm betting there were a ton of people like me during this election cycle.

There's no way I was going to vote for either one of them, so I sat this one out. This was a golden year for the Dems to pick up a ton of would-be Republican voters.

Another problem is Hillary sat out swing states she thought she had in the bag. Meanwhile, whether you like the guy or not, Trump had charisma. Everybody laughed at him for spending so much time in those swing states thinking it was a waste of time.

No amount of boasting or blaming is going to change what we have today. I think we can all hope we've learned our lesson and run better candidates on both sides next go around. Except Ciggy, I think he ended up on repeat somehow.

Yes, all of those factors had an effect, but the fact remains that the only reason she lost was because of a small group of voters in select states who derelicted their duty and betrayed their country by voting for a horrifically unqualified and intellectually, temperamentally and morally unfit con man for President of the United States.
Holy crap. Did you just copy and paste yourself?

I agree with that. She still only lost by 77k votes to Donald Freaking Trump for crying out loud.

Fixed it for you. ^^ Who knows how bad Hills would have lost to a normal candidate. Hillary lost the most winnable POTUS election in modern times. No matter what the vote differential was, or even if she won the popular vote, she still got beat by Donald Trump. Ye gods!

There is no way to polish that turd.

Well, technically 13 other GOP candidates got beat by Trump, too. And, there were some solid options in there as well.

Actually, I think there were even a few more R candidates than that, but yes, that is concerning that he was able to overcome all of them too. But even so, it was an even bigger upset for Trump to knock out Hillary.

Nobody on the R side had even a fraction of the media support, name recognition, years worth of preparation, etc, that Hillary did. Yet she managed to lose to Trump in an election where someone like say Joe Biden I think would have beaten Trump easily.

Agree on Biden beating Trump. I actually think Hillary was disliked by so many voters (R and D) that her margin of error was slimmer than she and her campaign ever realized, until election night.

supposedly she blames biden too in the book! { she should be thanking him of all people}

For real? ^^ Biden stayed out of a race that he could have won and there was some fairly serious consideration of him jumping in...late even...that was largely the result of some of the D's recognizing that Hills was vulnerable in the general.

It turns out that she was much more than vulnerable..she actually lost an election, to Trump, that many other D's would have won IMO.

I don't think I would have believed you if not for the video. I've only made it a few minutes in and have had a few gut laughs. Just got to the part about her buying a home and the place next door in anticipation of housing White House staff.

It's almost like she's proud of how dumb she looks. Admitting that she didn't write a concession speech and couldn't imagine a scenario where she would lose.

Only to those who weren't paying attention and cared very, very little about the future of our country.
Nope she was the worst of the two party candidates in my lifetime...she lost to Trump, game over, the sooner the dems own that and kick her to the curb the sooner a second term for Trump starts to decline...

I really had a good chuckle during Hills interview this morning on CBS. She talked about the debate right after the Trump "grab them by the pussy" comment came out. She commented in the interview that maybe she should have said, "creep.. get away from me" while she shared the stage with him.

Hills....... we all know why you didn't (actually couldn't ) say that. It is because of your "creep" womanizing husband that you enabled. She is smart enough to know she couldn't say it at the time but it sure sounds good now.

Not my cup of tea, but Biden would of walked into the endzone over Trump, as would of virtually anyone not Hillary, Bernie or Warren.

Dems bitching about Trump have no one to blame but themselves, they made the impossible happen due too their incompetence with who they nominated.

She ran that grab them by the pussy ad so many times it became her saying it. She just didn't know when to stop a losing thing.

I actually think Bernie would have won quite easily. Not sure on Warren.
