I don't usually start threads but I thought this deserved its own. Auguste for ND just gets completely screwed on two fouls against him in this game. College refs are so clueless on the player that initiates contact it isn't even funny, and they always default to blowing their whistle even if they aren't 100% sure it's a foul. I just watched 60 free throw attempts in the last game with Wisconsin, but hey, we need the refs to call more fouls, right? Isn't that what everyone wants?

Arizona should have had 30 more fouls called on them easily.

I'm generally of the opinion that they need to call stuff according to the rules. However, it needs to start in Nov, not March. When you call the game one way you can't change with four games left in the season. Letting teams mug each other and not get called for 4 months then calling all of that contact in the tourney is horrible.

Seriously, pocha, if the NBA could clean up their problem with the officials why don't you think college could do it?

No, nobody wants a ton of fouls. But what most people that complain want are officials call fouls RIGHT until teams learn they can't get away with that crud.

And if that means after a season firing some of the dolts that won't change, than fire them.

And, for Cripse sake, this newest craze of not calling a foul unless it effects the play?!?!? Such as waiting to see if a shot goes in or possession changes? That has GOT to go...now!!!

I agree, you wouldn't think it would be that hard to fix the problem. Get rid of the old farts that have seen the game pass them by and get some new young blood in there. I was pumped for this game tonight because I like notre dame's team this year and kentucky obviously has a ton of talent. Although after those first two bogus fouls called against auguste it made it really hard for me to keep watching. Especially when the warriors are playing. That being said it has been a good first half to watch.

I do want more fouls called. Coaches and players will adjust. Foul everybody out, I don't care. They need to learn to play clean basketball.

I agree 100%. Arizona got away with a lot in the second half then calls that looked to be more soft were called against Wisconsin.

What do you expect when some refs learn the trade at camps run by Ted Valentine, Mike Sanzere, and Mike Eades. Some of the most worthless officials in college basketball and their teaching the up and comers. The NCAA needs to address the officiating problems because imo it's hurting the sport immensely.

Don't forget, that camp is run by the guy in charge of Big Ten Officials! The guy that HIRES Big Ten officials.

If anything it pretty much means that the way things are is the way the Big Ten wants them.

Auguste now has 3 fouls and none of them were actual fouls. Love how the announcer said there was 2 fouls on the play when at first he got all ball and then played straight up. I'm sure many on here thought there were 5 fouls on that play based on some of these comments.
