Coppin State Game thread

If Brady progresses like we hope he does, we're gonna be awfully glad he took the redshirt.

From today's play, I'd like to see Woody, Uhl, JU, Jok, MG starting with Jones/Wagner backing up the front court and BE/AC backing the backcourt for your 9-deep rotation.

100 percent agree. This should be a nine man rotation only. I hope Fran doesn't go much deeper than that.

That should make it official that Hutton is RS'ing

I think Hutton will be taking his RS next season if you know what I mean. I can't believe Fran is willing to go into next season with Williams & Bohannon at PG.

Total 100% speculation of course

Nice to finally have a laugher
Announcer said it best. Coppin State had no interest in playing defense today.

Now, a lot of that was also thanks to the solid shooting performance and offensive execution of Iowa, but CSU may have been the worst defense Iowa has played in their first four games (including exhibitions), from a fundamental standpoint.

And to Iowa's credit, they actually took full advantage of it. We've seen cases in the past against teams where they haven't, or as well as they should/could have.

But, only 11-20 from the free throw line!!!

Just kidding. You're gonna have games like that. Fleming was 0-4, so that kinda skewed it.
Good win though.

Team took some nice little steps forward today. Played more confidently than past 3 games, but I still see some ups and downs. Learn from today good and bad( and there was some bad) and go forward. I like this team . Early on and mostly throughout rebounding better( I know Coppin State, right), but concerted effort early to block out and Coppin State was good at offensive boards last game, so nice job men.

Loved the aggressiveness on the boards . Not all of the 'put-backs' went in but there was a lot of effort on the offensive rebounds.

Dale Jones was impressive tonight. Most shooting we've seen him do and he didn't disappoint.

Williams looked like he was pressing to get on on the scoring action and the game hasn't slowed down for him quite yet. That'll come.

Wagner doing his thing again and looks to be solid from the free throw line, which will be important with his physical style of play.

Fun game to watch.

That got me pretty excited to see him hit those. If he's making free throws it ups his game quite a bit.

Uthoff is so much better defensively at the SF. Hopefully Fran keeps him there as much as possible.

Really impressed with Ellingson (a big surprise for me), Jones, Hutton and Uhl in this game. These four are going to play our 6-9. Disappointed in Fleming (lots of silly mistakes) and Williams looked out of his element. Very entertaining warm-up game. Now it gets tough when we play some real teams, starting with Marquette.

Hutton didn't play. I assume you meant Wagner, who I agree, was impressive. Very athletic and strong forward who plays with lots of energy.

Good confidence builder game. Coppin State is awful, but our bench rotation played well, except for Fleming. He is still having trouble playing within the flow of the game. Bad habits from his team last year are hard to break, but it will come. Especially nice to see Uhl playing well, because he will be a key player. I also love Ellingson's poise, Wagner's energy, Jones' ability to stretch the defense, and Baer's all-round game.

I think Mike is finally going to shut up his critics, if he stays healthy. He looked great.
