Gross techs Austin 10-0 with about 20 seconds left. Desanto couldn't finish and did too much mat wrestling where Gross is obviously comfortable and better. Also, Austin looked tired which rarely happens.
Austin still can't score unless he has the left elbow. Absolutely bewildering.
Also still hasn't learned how to wrestle freestyle.
I thought Austin was being way too cautious in some positions, but then the end of the match showed why he was. Once he started wrestling through them, Gross was able to get counter scores pretty easily.
It's a different match if Austin is up 2-0 at the break rather than down, that way he doesn't have to force things where he's not comfortable, but thems the breaks I guess

He just got a standing ovation by a mostly Hawkeye crowd after beating the returning Olympic silver medalist. Maybe he can chill a bit with the Iowa hate.

That was crazy. Ono was better every second. When’s the last time Spencer didn’t score an offensive point in a match? Rivera at Midlands? True battle of titans.
Lost 2-3. No offense, Ono with 3 pushouts. Lee point off of illegal move and 1 for stalling.

Wrestled more conservative than he did in the Olympic final.
Very boring match. Ono controlled position the whole time. Neither was particularly close to a takedown. Ono got to the leg once and that’s it for both guys.
I feel like we should get a best 2 out of 3 in that match. To much respect there.

Disappointing results for Desanto and Lee, but good wrestling.
Wow. I was hoping Jason Nolf’s prediction was on point 😁. Bit surprised with no offensive points and Ono controlling the match.
That was pretty anticlimactic but still a cool night of wrestling.

Haven’t Austin and Seth wrestled each other a few times in freestyle? Thought they have but I’m drawing a blank.
For those watching on TV was Spencer grounded it looked like he was on his knees at least two of the three but I couldn't tell for sure.
Not looking for an argument but I didnt think he was grounded on any of them.
This is how SL is going to keep growing and getting better and winning at the Olympic and WC levels, by going in against these guys.

I thought the last pushout was definitely grounded, but the ref said Ono initiated the attack. But I feel like you see that called grounded 90% of the time.
Spencer went up 5.5 pounds, Ono came down 3.5 pounds for the match. I would like to see Ono wrestle down at 57.
