Coronavirus

Here we are less than three months from my original post and the country is devastated. We have almost 1.7 million confirmed cases and almost 100,000 deaths. We have 4% of the world's population and 25% of the cases and deaths. We have 39 million people unemployed, most of which were being paid at a level that missing a single paycheck would be disastrous to their families. We have a president who still has no definite plan for the country. He dumps responsibility on state governors unless they break ranks with what he really wants them to do. He threatens to withhold aid to Democratic led states. He has no medical or scientific background, yet prescribes a dangerous malaria drug and an obscenely stupid disinfectant remedy for his cultists. Someone with a working mind has to explain how this man and his administration have done even a "good:" job, much less the A+ he gives himself for all his actions.

Correction: we have <5% the world's population, and >30% of the documented cases and >25% of the overall deaths.

Hey Doc: should "Dems" and others still sit back and pretend this response is competent, when we'll be hitting 100k within 3 months (and could easily clip a quarter million within the next year by next March).

Perhaps u didn't have the GOP "outraged" because that was actually a fairly low number for annual casualties.

Feel free to come back and comment now on where we're at, and STILL have virtually no WH leadership to coordinate things...

Dumb and dumber

Thinking about it:confused:. Granted he can say some things that make you scratch your head a little but who doesn't. Biden?? That guy has something going on and it's not good
Biden and Trump are both too old (and this is coming from someone who isn't much younger). Biden never was the sharpest knife in the drawer, but Trump is basically a steaming pile of poop.

Dumb and dumber

So you can't refute anything I said with facts, so you resort to name calling. Your revered leader would be so proud of you because that seems to be the only thing he is really good at and is his only real tactic. I'm done with this. It's just not worth the time to argue with science and fact deniers.

Did they change gears before May 11th?
If you are referring to comfort taking covid patients, it was designated for use to treat covid patients beginning April 7th.
Java center was designated to care for covid patients from the beginning.
Unfortunately both were under utilized due to ny governor ordering contagious covid patients on the road to recovery be sent back to nursing homes. Nursing homes were denied by health officials to move covid suspected residents to java & comfort.

We actually will never know the true worldwide statistics as many nations do little to no testing and little data keeping. Many of these are third world countries with no resources. Wealthier countries will always seem worse because of this.

The country is devastated because every political leader in both parties became hysterical following the absurd hysteria produced by the "scientists", who were themselves either political or simply hysterical.

It is not "devastated" because some pandemic killed or disabled a statistically significant part of the population. As of today, a total of 1,693,850 cases have been reported, that's not even one half of one percent of the population. As of today, 98,468 deaths, roughly .0003% of the population. So the publicly available mortality rate data is .0581, a survival rate of 99.94%

Even the death rates are exaggerated, substantially exaggerated if you believe the "scientists" that say we need to stay "shut down" because the current figures underestimate the total cases by around 500%. So that would be ‭8,469,250‬ cases, with a mortality rate of .0116%. Its also significant that the 500% are asymptomatic...a sophisticated word for THEY AREN'T EVEN ****ING SICK.

The death rates are further exaggerated by the failure to distinguish between deaths of people with Covid but not from Covid. Its a distinction with a big difference.

Moreover, far more of a regional problem than a national problem. Almost half of all fatalities occurred in just two states, actually just the NYC metro area in NY and NJ. New York has 6% of the US population but 30% of the Covid cases and deaths. New Jersey has roughly 2.7% of the population but more than 10% of the Covid cases and deaths.

California is almost twice as big as NY state, but has 88% fewer cases and deaths.

Texas has 25% more people than New York but 90% fewer Covid cases and deaths. Florida is slightly smaller than New York, about 5% smaller, but also has over 90% fewer cases and deaths. In Iowa Covid deaths won't even make the top 15 causes of death this year.

Each death is tragic for the families involved but sympathy for the few cannot be used to justify harming the many, particularly when the harm is death and financial destruction-tragedies for far more families than have been impacted by the fall out from a massive shut down than will ever be affected by Covid.

History has dispositively proven that macro policy cannot be reliably made by "scientists" and much less by reliance on models, which are merely theoretical projections based on factual premises that may or not be accurate. The models have consistently and grossly exaggerated exposure, transmission, and course of Covid infections and deaths.

But hey, Orange Man bad...Russia...Ukraine...Hitler...AGGGHHHH!.
