Cost of living raise denied by Obama

This is one of the few things in the world that can't honestly be blamed on Obama.

Unless Congress changes the formula for calculating the COL for retirees, this is going to happen -- and it should. The law is pretty clear. It's just being followed, that's all. Am I upset that there have only been 3 times when there was no increase, and all three have occurred since I started drawing benefits?

Actually, no. That's the law.

Maybe you should explain it again, and this time with less gibberish.
Ok. I think your world views on anarcho capitalism are wrong. I think your interpretation of my quip on old Americans is wrong. I think your assessment of me as an elitist is off base. I think your use of the cake quote was misplaced and the origins of the story poetically told that entire story. Menace hit a home run. Buy him a drink, rest up, maybe you will land a punch tomorrow, but today isn't your day.

Buy him a drink? What for? You said he hit a home run, but you didn't explain why. You told me that you didn't agree with my views, but that post wasn't about me getting you to agree with my views. I thought you understood that my post was about comparing the phrase commonly attributed to Marie Antoinette with your comment about not caring whether old people can feed themselves or not because they are generally going to vote republican anyway.

I thought you understood the point of my post, but it's quickly becoming clear to me that this is not the case. So now you have my explanation.

If you can come up with a reason why my post is no longer attributable due to Menace's following post, then I'll listen, but I'm not going to accept, "because I don't agree with you" as a valid reason. There are many misattributed quotes out there, but that doesn't make those quotes invalid.

Why do you keep digging? I knew what you were saying, which is why I mocked you calling you pissy. You didn't understand what I was saying. I was not saying i didn't care "whether old people can feed themselves or not because they are generally going to vote republican anyway". I was saying the opposite as I was mocking vroom. From there it's all just too perfect that you got called out for trying to make a point with out understanding using a quote without understanding. Get yourself a sense of humor, your missing some good stuff here.

Fittingly, this quote was actually a fabrication as it was a quote from an author, attributed to a royal from years before Marie Antoinette, that was used in a slanderous campaign against the French royal family and in particular Marie Antoinette (who ironically was quite charitable to the poor, though her families extravagant lifestyle doomed her.) Kind of fitting then, how you attribute this attitude to Obama.
She may have said it, but whether or not she did, she didn't originate it. And the reference was not to what we would consider cake today, but to brioche.

You are correct about her attitude toward the poor. The lady got a bum rap.

the repubs need to make an ad and put it on tv and it shows Obama pushing an old lady in a wheel chair and he pushes her over the cliff and that old lady is Hillary.

Grocery stores use the high cost of gas as an excuse to raise prices but when that price goes down they don't cut prices. The free market capitalism at its finest.
Kind of like airlines charging for luggage to offset the fuel costs. And yes I know jet fuel is different, but it's still come way back down.

I won't get too attached to the OP. I suspect his appearances around here will be flamboyant, but brief. Until he gets another handle.

A couple of interesting (and contradictory) graphs on that. Here's one, suggesting a recent shift to R (coinciding with the election of the black guy - and, yes, there's reason to think that's the main factor).

Other graphs are here (I can't copy them)

http://www.people-press.org/2015/04/07/party-identification-trends-1992-2014/

They show that older retirees (the silent generation) split pretty evenly and currently favor Rs by a small margin - but newer retirees and those soon to retire (the boomers) lean D by a larger margin.

All of which suggests a steady swing to the left among the elderly as the older ones die off and the black guy leaves the White House.
So Obama discriminates on age AND race.

Nothing new. The incompetent loser and liar is just admitting defeat for his crappy economy and incompetence. Liberals blame and Obama demonizes Republicans, Obama talks tough to Republicans, but is a pussy......... dealing with to name just one. ...... example...Putin.

You rang?

As for the lack of COLA for SS recipients, I just got off the phone from paying my dental insurance. Up 5% from last year. My Medicare supplemental was up more than that last January. And my cable went up 16%. With recovering housing market, my real estate taxes are up, too. And then there's food....

Note that only one of those is really optional - the cable bill - unless you think seniors should do without medical insurance.

On the bright side, gasoline is down. But if you aren't one of those seniors traveling around in your RV during retirement, that hardly registers. Yet is it the main excuse for not raising the SS benefit. That's because we use an adjustment formula focused on workers, who do benefit a good bit from reduced transportation fuel costs.

You know those memes about seniors having to choose between food and medical care. I'm not there - yet - but it's not just a made up problem.
