Cullan Schriever

An ROTC athlete will have to serve a multi-year commitment in the military once they graduate. This opportunity is available to any qualifying student who is willing to make that commitment. Big picture - the military would benefit from more college athletes, not fewer.
That is a good point and can't argue that. However, you do see my point in which programs can get "creative" in finding an edge to get $ to athletes....maybe ROTC is a bad example, but is one of many examples. Kind of like taxes, instead of being simple and easy they make it so damn complex in which there are loop holes and such

I’ve said this for a few years now, Sebolt pushes his kids way too much. Cullan and a lot of the younger ones have been competing year round and many only wrestle. There’s been a ton of research that says specializing in a sport at a young age sets them up for injuries in the future. Sebolt says he was pushed too hard by his dad, well, he’s just like his dad. But he’s not going to stop because he’s got a money train coming in right now.

So Because of one kid having a couple injuries you are going to assume it's because they are pushed to hard, Obviously a broken ankle has nothing to do with over use. I didn't see the separated shoulder but I would assume if a wrestler gets sprawled on in just the right/wrong way something like that could also happen. When these kids have goals to be State/National Champs World Team Members they put in the work to do so. If Sebolt keeps producing like he is now he's obviously doing something right.

Okay, TJ.

Maybe the best troll post of all time. This cat spins some serious nonsense then sits back while 30 people jump into a fight about what??? Pull pin. Throw grenade. Grab popcorn. Well played good sir/her/they.

Sheesh, I’m feeling like that poster who doesn’t like big words. I’m soooo confused, fellas.

Cullan and Ybarra are studs, no doubt, and I am happy they have chosen to be Hawks. They are not at the top of their own weights or near top 10-20 PFP though. While I could see having to “settle” for a 30 or higher PFP at some weights, I don’t see how we aren’t able to get the top guys at the light weights. Robbie Howard should have been begging to come train with TnT and the guys in our room. I can see where there are some circumstances where the wrestler wants to stay with the home state school, closer to home, some school seems to be a better fit, rich uncle will only pay if they go to school B, etc. It seems like the vast majority of lightweights choose a different school though. We still get the lower ranked kids, coach them up and they frequently AA and beat the kids that were higher ranked out of high school, but it sure would be nice to start out with the top dog and coach him up to be a multiple time NCAA champ rather than a multiple time AA. It is frustrating that we struggle to recruit the lightweights.

Of course getting Spencer was a huge coup. And getting DeSanto and Renteria to see the light and transfer after initially not choosing the Hawks has been great. Getting top ranked kids out of HS should seemingly be easy, but unfortunately, that has not been the case.
Good points except Robbie Howard. He’s good where he is at!!! Glad Iowa didn’t get him.our guys are just as good as he is. Just need to figure it out.

and I bet Robbie Howard is Happy that he signed with Carl ...especially now that Carl is backtracking and bribing...oops i mean buying...ugghhh sorry i meant BRINGING Suriano back in to fill the 125 spot...oh yeah...Cue Howard Injury and now Carl must look to fill the void that Howard left and somehow it becomes Howard's problem Not Carl's...... I think this was the same song that they played to bring in Dean...its a classical Milli Vanilli tune

So, was Howard injured before or after Suriano came around looking for a roster spot?

I assume you have made these observations to TJ directly?

way before. word came out he was probably sitting this year out shortly after ncaas. mckee ripped his previously injured shoulder off with a nasty half to end his tourny.

Wasnt he rehabbing and drilling lightly early in the summer with the intent to slowly rehab the shoulder and be ready for this years abbreviated season and THEN Suriano resurfaced???

that is not what i had heard. willie said on his show months ago that howard was redshirting and if you look over at bwi, they've had gary steen penciled in as their 125 starter all offseason. also this year's season isn't abbreviated.

Agree. I’m taking notes on this one.

If the shoe were on the other foot, assuming he fits in personality and mentality wise, I'd be pretty disappointed if Brands didn't bring him in. Sorry, it's his job to put the best team on the mat and win national titles.

Howard has been injured since spring I believe. Carl must be working the long game.
