Cyclones now have a losing record

At least they aren’t delusional! That moron ISU troll with 60k posts on Iowa said even if TH leaves early and Iowa returns everyone ISU’s starting 5 will be better than Iowa’s next year. So at least their biggest troll is being rational. That’s what happens when you are 3-17 against your only rival in recent years and have an AD saying ISU is the bear and writing mid-season letters. What a pathetic lot of people. Not u Stender you are at least semi-objective.

Disappointing season for sure so far. If you break it down, however, they are doing about as well as can be expected. The FL A&M loss was ridiculous (with or without Haliburton), no excuse to lose to a team of that caliber, especially at home. The loss at TCU stung because they had the game won (minus a 30 foot bank at the buzzer). Other than those two, the other 8 losses were not unexpected. In the past, ISU rose up and beats one of those eight teams. This year, they simply dont have the horses to do so.

Losing your top 4 players hurt, but again that is no excuse. Players come + go.

Today's game at Auburn was encouraging.

Unlike a lot of ISU fans, I like + trust Steve Prohm. How long of a leash is Pollard going to give him? No one knows. Prohm seems to recruit pretty well, but their main weakness this year is pretty glaring.

They simply struggle to shoot from the outside - tough to win at any level when you are 7/27 from 3.

Hawks are having a really good year. Kudos to them!

Hmmm, thank you. Very refreshing to read your humble, modest, complimentary posts. In the past I found many of your posts to be condescending, arrogant, and snobbish. Why the sudden change?

Prohm is a garbage coach, I told ISU fans that from the beginning. If you inherit a top five team and take them to last place in the conference in just a few years that’s a problem. But most Clone fans ignored that. The guy walked into about the best possible situation imaginable and is running the program into the ground.

I have to agree really starting to question Prohm as a D1 coach. But, good for the Hawks.

Stender seems like a level headed Cyclone fan. Don't need to give him grief due to some of the other jackholes

Also I think Burton is on a team in NBA as well.

No ISU fan thought losing 8 games at this point was realistic if you asked 2 months ago. GTFO here with that.

How’s their attendance figures? I’m told those are important.

Those bragging about attendance are full of crap. Went to a conference game against WV last year (when ISU was ranked) and half the upper level was empty. We had seats in the last row and moved down to the first row of the student section in the upper level. The students that did come up and sit were on their phones and didn’t even stand for the starting lineups. My wife who is an ISU alum was disgusted with the fan base. They may pack the house against KU or a weekend, but they don’t get great attendance during the week.

Both Prohm and Gard at Wisc. both inherited teams with a very talented upperclassmen with both having deep junior classes. Gard also got Happ as a freshman. Both did exceptionally well first 2 years with other coaches players.

Now we are at the point where each has their own players and Prohm is showing he thrived off Freddy's guy and not so much with his own (2 out of last 3 with no tourney and 0 NCAA wins). Least Gard still has Wisc. in the tourney every year minus one but has dropped from Bo's results which is to be expected.

I'd be concerned if I were an ISU fan. ISU is 261st in 3 point % at ~31% and yet they average 24.5 attempts per game with 7.6 makes. Sure they might get a rebound on some of those, but that's basically 17 empty possessions/turnovers per game.

The players aren't disciplined enough to pass up an open 3 or understand there's probably a reason they're open. Makes the opposing coach's job pretty easy when you can sag off the 3 point line knowing a bad shooting team will shoot anyway.

Hilton “basically free” Magic. Guys can’t sell tickets for 10 bucks to a home conference game against the number 1 team in the country. Holy God that is unreal. A “basketball” school basically can’t give away tickets to a home game against the top ranked team in the country?! Awesome work by Pollard. That is really sad. Didn’t take long for that “diehard” fanbase at a basketball school to quit. Wow.

The good thing about ISU's football and basketball teams underperforming the expectations is:

1) We get a lot fewer ISU fans trolling us
2) We get more humility from the ones that do want to post here
3) It makes Pollard's "we're the bear now" comments look so foolish

Pepper - agree. It is so little brother. Actually at this point losing 17 of 20 to us they aren’t related. If Pollard hadn’t kept pumping people up about all things anti-Hawks and objective Clone fans looked at the direction of the athletic department they would want his ass gone. Jesus their historic football team resulted in the Camping World blowout loss and 7-6 (in a crap conference); a basketball school with neither team making the tourney; and a wrestling team that is a joke. Seriously, ISU is not only bad their only barometer (against the Hawks) is 3-17. That is so pathetic.

The best is I just looked and CF is obsessed over bad calls in the Iowa-Wisconsin game. I can’t ever imagine even in my worst state of mind following another team like they follow Iowa. That Twins guy is a total psychopath. Unreal. He needs serious help and sad other Clone trolls are telling him he needs help.

I don't understand their obsession with all things Iowa either. My only reason for laughing at ISU is their fans and AD seem to really think they are on Iowa's level or better than Iowa, but there's absolutely nothing that would allow an objective party to draw either of those conclusions. Oh, and I really don't care to play them anymore in football after the way they treated the marching band this past season - I really do think Iowa should end the series at this point.

Is his job safe? If so, does it change things if they really go off the rails and finish 12-20 or something like that? I have no idea what the situation is over there but I have heard certain fans complaining about him for a couple of years now.

It’ll be really funny when they drop the MBB, FB, WBB, and wrestling games to Iowa + the overall CyHawk series next year, and then fail to make the postseason in all 4 sports next year. Even Cyclone fans will be unhappy with that.

I'm not sure how encouraged I'd be hanging with Auburn. They're the most overrated ranked team in basketball. They haven't played anyone and were just blown out by Florida and Alabama by a combined 41 points.

They just dropped to #35 on KenPom after barely beating a bad and undermanned Ole Miss in OT.

They won't be in the rankings after their upcoming schedule.

crybaby Jamie will fight to death to keep the Iowa series.

Without it isu loses its identity.

The only way clown fans will be upset is if Iowa’s main sports outshine them again in the post season. If they do then all they might have to crow about is their go to strength of schedule bs.

Sounds like that young coach we heard so much about isn't working out? At this point, the clowns should look for some coaches with Iowa State ties. Good coaches with a proven track record, and the Iowa State ties so they stick around. For instance, Hoiberg. Nevermind.

Sounds like a fair amount of the fan base is already or getting ready to turn on and move on from him. Being that 2 years ago they missed the tourney and with all that talent last year went only 9-9 in conference and got beat in the first round. This season will be 2 out of 3 years with out going to the NCAA tourney and with Haliburton all but gone next season doesn't look to promising for him. Only real success he had was with Freddy's players first 2 years.

I think the buy out he is all but a lock to return next season. But could start next year with his seat a little warm already.

Free tickets being given away for a game against the number 1 team in the country at Hilton tonight. Wow how the “fans” have bailed. Hilton Magic is right. “Poof” the fans are gone. But they are the “bear” and a basketball school. This is unreal.

I sure hope it is.
Hopefully Pollard makes another Iowa tour about being the "bear" in the state. It makes seasons like this much more gratifying and with little bro having a mid major coach I don't see the clones dominating Iowa in any sport in the foreseeable future

Is Twins on suicide watch? He has to be the most miserable SOB alive. The best Cyclone football team in the past 50 years went 7-6 and got bare-assed spanked by a team that didn't even want to be in their bowl game. Their all-world QB is not going to take them anywhere because he is terrified of contact and folds under pressure. Prohm has taken a consistent top-25 basketball team to the cellar of a pathetic conference. Meanwhile, Iowa is averaging 9 wins per year in football and the basketball team is solid. They MAY win a natty in wrestling this year. The women's team is ranked. Dark days for little brother.
