Day 2- World Championships- 4 Greco-Roman weights

4 weight classes in Greco today at the World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas. The weights are 59, 71, 80 & 130 kilograms. Yesterday had 3 Greco weights 66, 75 & 98 kilograms. Bryce Saddoris and Caylor Williams did not place. Andy Bizek won Bronze.
Mango is up first in less than 30 minutes.

No one deserved to win that Smith match. Absolutely ridiculous that a ref can win that match. Glad Smith won, but he didn't do anything other than get the second passivity point. If it were the other way, there'd be outrage. Granted the other guy did nothing either, which is why they need an OT session, or heck go to the ball grab with double unders. Something that requires someone scoring a point

Although, Mango, Lester and Maetinez have lost, they still have a chance to wrestle back for Bronze, provided the wrestler that beat them wins their semi-final match.

Greco is freakin tough man. I know it doesn't get much respect domestically but these guys are freaking hammers. I think it has gotten a lot more exciting with the new rules too (or maybe I am just paying better attention). You'll get your occasional 1-1 criteria matches but at least those are over in six minutes unlike the 2-1 15 minute triple OT ankle grab party that we see in folkstyle so frequently these days.

US is doing relatively well in Greco all things considering I think.

USA is doing better than usual in Greco, but I would not call it good. Not that you said they were doing good, Hawkmann.

Tonight's session only has one match that has an USA wrestler. Robby will wrestle for Bronze and it will either be the 10th or 11th match of the 12 matches tonight. That means it will be around 9:00pm here and midnight eastern time and 11:00pm back in Hawkeye country. I will send an update out with the result for those who are interested, but not watching it live.
Tomorrow is Day 3 and will have the one remaining GrecoRoman weight (85kg) and 3 women's freestyle weight classes (48, 53, & 69kg). I plan to give updates again tomorrow. 85kg is a tough weight, but looking for Jordan Holm to do well for the USA. Watching Alyssa Lampe-48kg, Whitney Condor-53kg, Elena Pirozhkova-69kg should be entertaining as well tomorrow.

Robby Smith loses his Broze medal match 10-8 with a very good comeback effort by Robby Smith. The crowd acted like he won and the winner looked like a loser at the end of the match. Lots of excitement in that match.

Just watched Smith's bronze match. Great performance by Robby leaving it all on the mat

It was a great match and if they had not been so close to the out of bounds I think Robby had that Russian tight enough to get the fall!
