Do you know what Trump was found guilty of?

Yes. The Democrats held one of their own accountable.
Lol. A few did, anyway. Not even a majority of them did. Just enough to compel him to resign. And only because there were no consequences to the party for doing so. Minnesota’s Democratic governor had his Democratic replacement ready to be sworn in on the very next day after Franken left.

Hell, most of the Democrats who pressured him to resign have changed their minds and expressed regret over doing so.

Now let’s talk about Bob Menendez….

This is no burn, it is corny.

LOL, look at TJ churn in this thread.
That's a whole lot of words to say, "Yes, the Dems held Franken accountable", before going with a patented whataboutism. Incidentally, Menendez is on trial as we type, and no Dem has shown up to support him at the courthouse, and no Dem is rage tweeting fundraising messages over him. Dems aren't promising civil war in the streets if Menendez is convicted.

Dems love to puff out their chests and claim they always do the right thing. But the bottom line is they do the right thing when it’s politically expedient, and Menendez is proof of that.

Franken was expendable because he could be quickly replaced with another Democrat. Republicans sent Santos home before his case even went to trial. But Dems refuse to
do the same with Menendez because there might be consequences for the party if they did.

Hell, Dems tried to drag Feinstein across the finish line in order to improve the chances for their preferred replacement in this year’s election even though her brain was so ravaged by dementia that she literally had no idea where she was, had to be told by her staff members how to vote, and couldn’t understand why Kamala Harris was presiding over a Senate session. All because they wanted to grease the rails for Adam Schiff in November.

So don’t start up with your “Dems always do the right thing” shit.

I don’t think that’s the argument most are making.

They are pointing out the massive gulf in difference between the cultish devotion to a POS criminal by mainstream republicans compared to the much more tepid and sometimes non-existent cover Dems give to their bad seeds.

Haven't followed it at all.

I just heard "hush money" so I figured it was about him paying off the Stormy pornstar (which I'm about 100% I've jerked off to before).

Ends up being about falsifying docs? Had no clue.

LOLWUT?

Dems are not defending Menendez. They are letting the justice system work its way through.

This article pretty much sums it up and the issues with the prosecution. I've read Mish for years and he for sure is not Trump fan, nor Biden fan.

Biden fans are going hate. Trump fans are gonna hate. In the end this may be a the point of the downfall of our current system as we act more and more like Ukraine and Russia in how we run Govt.

Mish does not take a position of Trump's guilt. He raises questions of how and why the conviction was achieved.

Personally I do not want Trump or Biden to run.
Some dude with an economics blog, who is not a lawyer nor legal scholar, is outraged. And we should care about his opinion why?

Wait a minute, you think Stormy paid Trump?

How would Trump benefit from paying Stormy?

What happened was Trump paid Cohen back for paying off Stormy, whether he knew about it or not, and that was coded incorrectly. Because it wasn't taxed correctly.

Cohen didn't get a heloc on his house to make a payment to trump for funsies. Cohen paid Stormy, then Cohen got paid via Trump, there was no campaign contribution from Cohen.
When not talking politics you seem like someone I would enjoy having a few beers with. But damn you are seriously misinformed on this case. Like you actually have to try to be this ignorant of what Trump did and why it was illegal.

If you are ever in the Chicago area hit me up and I will buy you a beer and explain it. Cause, no offense, you are really embarrassing yourself right now.

90% sure he just likes to play dumb for the sport of it. At least I hope so for his and his family’s sake!

Maybe it doesn't hurt to listen to others. Or we can all sit in our corner and talk to ourselves about what we want to hear. I don't always agree with him but he did say some things I hadn't though about. But you wouldn't have said what you said if you cared about anything other than what you think.

What have the Republicans done as a Party to “punish” Trump for his (numerous) women’s assault transgressions, TJ? In fact…..what have individual Republican politicians done to decry the Orange Turd’s actions against women?

It’s a fair point to listen to other fact based sources. I try very hard to stick to factual content and form opinions fresh from that. I read the Journal, NYT (thanks ciggy), watch a variety of non-opinion news on TV. When I do hear an opinion I want to know the qualifications of the person offering the opinion. Your guy might be interesting on economic topics, but please understand I don’t give a shit about his take on the law as he is not an expert.

One thing I try hard not to do is regurgitate opinion pieces just because it “feels” right to me. That is how confirmation bias happens.

They’ve done nothing to punish him, because they’re afraid of what will happen to their own careers. I am in no way excusing Republicans for their dereliction of duty in that regard. I’m simply pointing out that, contrary to what many Dems on this board want to believe, Dems don’t eat their
own either. Not unless they calculate that the benefits of doing do outweigh the losses.

Dems have a much stronger record of dealing with their own, TJ. Don’t bullshit your self. The GOP has no balls when it comes to that sort of thing…….GOP in Latin means “no moral fiber”….did you know that?
