Here's a story from this afternoon from the Gazette. As you will read, Brendan Sullivan (who's visiting today) appears to be the likeliest option right now for the Hawkeyes.

IOWA CITY — Iowa football is not expected to go on a massive transfer portal shopping spree this month.
“I don’t anticipate us having to go out and get 10 guys or something like that,” Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said last month.
But Iowa undoubtedly has a pressing need at quarterback.
The Hawkeyes are down to three quarterbacks on the 2024 roster — Cade McNamara, Marco Lainez and incoming freshman James Resar. McNamara is expected to be “able to go” in June, Ferentz said at the end of spring practices.
But even with McNamara’s health seemingly trending upward, Iowa’s current reliance on him at the position is risky. McNamara has not had a fully healthy season since 2021, and that’s not too far from the norm either. Iowa has experienced injuries at the quarterback position — injuries serious enough to sideline the starter for at least one game — in each of the last three seasons.
Many portal quarterbacks are off the board — Sam Huard (from Cal Poly to Utah) and Gavin Wimsatt (from Rutgers to Kentucky) are the latest examples — but some talent remains available at the position.
Here are a few of the options for the Hawkeyes:
Brendan Sullivan
Previous school: Northwestern
Years of eligibility remaining: 2
Brendan Sullivan appears to be the likeliest option right now for the Hawkeyes.
The former Northwestern quarterback left Evanston despite appearing to be the Wildcats’ probable starter for the 2024 season. He started four times and appeared in three other games as Ben Bryant’s backup in 2023.
The Davison, Mich., native completed 63.6 percent of his passes while throwing six touchdowns and two interceptions last year. He was 12-of-19 with one touchdown in the Wildcats’ 10-7 loss to Iowa at Wrigley Field.
Sullivan already has a connection with Iowa’s staff. New
offensive coordinator Tim Lester recruited him during his tenure as head coach at Western Michigan. If his visit this week to Iowa goes well, it would quickly put questions about Iowa’s QB depth at bay.
General Booty
Previous school: Oklahoma
Years of eligibility remaining: 2
General Booty confirmed to multiple recruiting outlets last week that he has been in contact with the Hawkeyes.
Booty, a 6-foot-2 quarterback from Allen, Texas, did not attempt any passes in his two seasons with the Sooners. Before Booty called Oklahoma home, he threw for 3,410 yards with 27 touchdowns versus 11 interceptions in his one season at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.
Some obstacles could stand in the way of Iowa getting Booty. The Hawkeyes are certainly not the only ones vying for his services, and the situation could change if Sullivan makes a decision this week after his visit to Iowa.
Brendan Sullivan and General Booty will be two names to watch as the Hawkeyes search for a quarterback in the transfer portal.
