Does BTN think Iowa State is joining the Big Ten?

Wisconsin, Illinois, Notre Dame, and all Chicago pro sports move the needle way ahead of Iowa in the Chicago area. I am sure Northwestern moves the needle more than Iowa.

You're clueless. Northwestern averages less than 37K in a 47K stadium with 10 Million people less than a 2 hour drive. Illinois averages 45K in a 60K stadium with the Chicago metro no more than 2 hours away. Illinois and Northwestern barely move the needle for instate schools that should be dominant.

Notre Dame is the leader and IOWA has always had a strong presence in Chicago.

That narrative has been outdated for some time. You need to get new material. It is funny that cord cutting is threatening revenue streams such as BTN, which has lost a large number of subs. The B12 is positioned quite nicely for this trend. The issue here is with dropping subs, how long will the big market teams in the B10 want to subsidize small market teams such as Iowa?

Always been that way in Big Ten, meanwhile in the Big 12 you get led around on a leash by Texas!

If Iowa owns the small state, why is it that significantly more Iowans attend ISU, and ISU is larger? You can't rationally explain that. Do you realize that if ISU had a 10-12 win season that 70K fans would be the norm. Attendance is 60K and increasing and the program has been pathetic according to many hawk fans.

Dude you couldn't get a full stadium against Kansas for homecoming right after the big Oklahoma win. A little rain kept the fair weathers at home that day!

Get you clipboard out and go house to house. You will never convince me that Iowa is more popular in Chicago than Illinois, Wisconsin, ND, or Northwestern. There may be others as well, but being a small market team like Iowa does have its advantages. The hawks have SE IA locked up and pretty much rule Cedar Rapids.

Illinois and Northwestern are barely on the radar at all in Chicago. Wisconsin is but not on the scale of Iowa or Indiana. The top 3 fan college fan bases in town are Iowa, Indiana and ND. None touch the pro sports but that's the way it is in big cities.

Keep in mind, facts are like kryptonite to a guy like E. (perhaps a poor analogy as it infers a certain strength to begin with...though E is certainly a super hero in his own mind.) Denial and delusion are the foundation.

What I find interesting is many hawk fans claim that ISU is going to the MAC or MWC when current TV contracts come up for renewal. When talking about the hawks, the focus shifts to the large market areas of the B10. The problem is the hawks are not one of those big market teams. The hawks are most likely the smallest market team in the B10.......interesting as BTN subs decline.

I am not referencing what happens to Iowa State if the Big 12 falls apart.

The B1G has been the strongest and oldest conference in American organized collegiate sport for a reason. Huge brands like Michigan and Ohio State don't demand their own networks. Northwestern and Purdue get just as much say as Penn State or Wisconsin. Nebraska and Maryland/Rutgers were taken into the league to expand the footprint, and proactively. I trust the B1G to adapt to a changing tide in how people watch games, they have proven to know what they are doing. They started the whole conference network wave over a decade ago when everybody told them to stick with cable.

The Big 12 has not shown themselves capable to me. They lost a founding member of the Big 8 in Nebraska because of Texas wanting to own the room. They lost Texas A&M and Missouri to the SEC, Colorado to the Pac 12. They replaced 4 schools with 2, had to get a waiver signed to get a CIG because they couldn't figure out how to add an additional 2 schools. They ran a horrible interview process and led on schools like Memphis/Cincinnati/Houston which cost those schools a ot of money, just to say nah.

In '14 their slogan "One True Champion" crowned two and cost both a shot at the innagural CFP.

Oklahoma has come out and spoke about the conference in a negative light.

The two replacement schools you got expanded your footprint into West Virginia, a school in a small populated State with no other Big 12 schools within nearly 1,000 miles of it.

And you need to know the difference between facts & opinions

That’s real rich, facts coming from a poster and someone who rarely produces them and if so rarely accurate and something that has ended many of you idiotic claims. Such as still waiting for proof isu has stronger SOS over Iowa least every 5-6 years even Iowa has had stronger one last 2 years and 3 out of 5. Or in this thread false claim of isu avg 60k last year.

There is absolutely zero benefit of the big 10 adding ISU to it's fold. They don't increase the potential footprint of the league. Iowa is a sparsely populated state with little metropolitan growth potential. If the league were to expand I would wager it only happening in two conditions:

1.) The landscape of college athletics changes, meaning that the sub-division or group of non power five secedes and creates another league making it essential for the P5 to become the P4.

2.) A notable independent or major brand like Notre Dame or Oklahoma make an overture to the big 10. The independent route might tie into the first scenario as well.

The Big 10 is a very well run conference, Iowa is a minted member and valued member. Ohio State/Michigan will play ball with Iowa because it is in the best interest of the league. They will not try to force a power play like Texas does in the Big 12.
Iowa will never find itself out in the cold, unfortunately ISU is not protected under the big 10 roof and most likely will have to drop if the big 12 ever does implode. I don't see either of the two scenarios playing out .

Iowa fans will continually moan about playing Iowa State and wish them off the schedule, the administrators know the game is good for the state and will continue playing it. Iowa is the much larger brand nationally.

The TigerHawk is a pretty cool and recognizable symbol across the nation. I see this...
th
I know what it represents.

I see this....
th
I am not so certain. Indiana, Illinois?

This is not a knock on Iowa State either. I love your coach and it's direction, but Iowa is historically better and well known.

Could also mean FCS powers Indiana St or Idaho St.

The only needle I see isu moving is one into somebody’s arm to end their suffering (humanly).

Not on hofher's Twitter feed so I would guess it is bogus.

Yeah because people never delete dumb tweets later on so when random people look at their feed they can’t see it anymore...

Unfortunately for this coach and others there are ways people can still read deleted texts.

Hah! Another classic clone move. I can already hear Randy Peterson typing feverishly to get an article out by tomorrow (AM) - with the exclusive story on how Jim Hofher's twitter account was hacked by Russian troll bots.

Exactly and wouldn’t put it past him. I bet half of isu fans have no clue who this @ss clown of an assistant even is.

Can’t spell insult w/o ISU.

Classic clown move. Instead of congratulating the kid on getting an offer, tear him down. I’m sure kids will want to play for that coach.

Damn it! You’re earning respect in my book by being real/honest.

Now I have to back off for a while.

You’re pissing me off more than ever by being real! Ugh
Here is the deal, if he had said f#$k the hawks that would have been fine. He didn't think about what he put on social media and how it would be perceived about a 17 year old kid. It is not acceptable, and Campbell is of very high integrity. There is a real chance that Hofher's job is at risk. Those kind of mistakes don't fly with me and I have let the powers that be know my opinion.

Will you stop it?!?! I’m tapping out with you & giving you a lot of street cred before I jump on you again.

Stop being reasonable!!!
